I bought my Bravo X used. It worked when I bought it. I brought it home, disassembled it, did all the cleaning & maintenance then reassembled. All I got were nests & thread breaks. I replaced needles, bobbin, bobbin case and recalibrated the needles. On the Melco education videos, I finally found one that mentioned the finger gauge for the rotary hook & its retaining finger. That was it!! Hallelujah, I'm back in business.

I know this video is from a while ago but threads lewaving the needles is a major problem for Melco machines. I am not sure I made the right decision buying the Melco. The system of cutting is, in my mind, the problem: I only use rayon, no polyester. Rayon is elastic and when the holder gets the thread under tension for cutting, and then rereases the tension, the thread flips back and jumps out of the needle. I have to stitch without cutting and cut by hand afterwards because I am not going to stand there threading needles. This is very tedious. All settings on my machine are aok, the designs are fine, the threads are fresh. I virtually never have any thread breaks on my 6-needle Brother. I feel you should check your construction and not blame just the user. I doesn't happen with cotton thread but the machine should be able to handle rayon.

You need to make a video on the felt cushion that the tread goes through.. The thread seems to be cutting into it deeper than when I bought it.. How do you know when to replace that, and how do you replace it?

I have owned a Bravo for last three years. Just a comment/suggestion. Two most common causes of bird ‘s nest viz. pinch roller not down or bobbin left out should have a alarm connected. Audible and/or visual and start button inactivated till these oversights corrected. I understand that this thing will require additional sensors and software changes but will make machine more efficient.

Hey guys, I work on a Melco EMT 16 and one of the machines comes up with an error code: thread feeder timeout trying to find home position. I was able to reset the machine and run one full cycle of stitching with no problems. As soon as i started another cycle the same thing happened. I have checked needle orientation which was fine, i have taken off the needle plate to check the rotary hook which also looked fine. I even tried reducing the S.P.M. to 1000, no luck. However, when i look at the backside of the logo I see needle holes in the backing but no bobbin thread. I'll try the laser button + up arrow to see if thread does feed properly next chance I get. Would you have any other suggestions before I bank on a service call?

There are deeper things to look at that we did not go into. I went through what I go through probably 90%-95% of the time with a thread break. For more information on thread break sensitivity, I would go to the Melco Knowledge Base. melco.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204345899-Adjusting-Thread-Break-Sensitivity-in-Melco-OS-and-Bravo-OS

What is a good speed to set for patches for different kinds of designs, does the faster speed break threads easier?

How can I return and sew few stitches back after a thread breakage? I did not see this option in the manual on thread troubleshooting or at Nate's thread troubleshooting.

The machine will back up a few stitches when it detects a thread break. If you need just a bit more than what the machine backed up, you can press the frame back key on the keypad. This will move the machine through the design without stitching.

Hi! I've checked all the steps in video, when machine stitches initially it is fine, then when it goes to cut and move to another location that same thread comes out of needle every time. Any ideas?

What about the quality of the thread? Started using a different type of gold metallic thread and it’s a nightmare

Metallic can be very challenging. Madeira CR metallic is a game changer. If you want to use what you have then use a needle that is larger and slow your machine down.

Dose the age of thread matter in breakage?

Polyester thread has a much longer shelf life than Rayon. Be sure to store in a dry cool place. I would reach out to the brand manufacturer on the shelf life of your threads. If the thread is older and has been stored improperly or dropped, it can cause issues.

My machine stops because of a thread break but neither the thread nor bobbin is broken. I can start it back up and it goes a few stitches and stops again. It seems to be on lettering but not always. Help, please!
