In prayer, they recite the Quran, and Quran was revealed in Arabic, and the word Quran itself means "that which is recited", hence the true Quran exists in the realm of sound. That is why Muslims memorize it in its original language. And it is believed by Muslims that there is Healing (Shifa) in listening to Quran, spiritual, mental and physical. I am a Swedish muslim woman who converted 6 years ago. I remember feeling the same everytime I listened to it although I didn't want to feel that way since I was convinced it was a bad religion. Here I am today, but yes, it is truly calming. I listen to the quran whenver I am stressed.
