Thousands lose jobs as Argentina's economy struggles
Tens of thousands of people have lost their jobs as Argentina's economic crisis deepens. President Javier Milei's stringent austerity measures include significant cuts to government spending and the re-laxation of labour laws to attract investment.

This is what people who do not understand inflation nor economics say and write. Prices are the consequences of inflation, not inflation itself. As long as you do not understand this basic core concept, you will never understand anything of economics, nor will you understand anything of what is going on in the world.

@@benitoscamelos5630 If Milei get the time he needs, he will fix Argentina. That I can guarantee. The problem is that it will take time, several years, and people are not patient. One cannot turn around 100 years of socialism in a few months, it will take 10 years probably. Will the people wait for that long to get living standard and quality of life up to European levels? Probably not. But if he is given that time, Argentina will be one of the best and most rich countries in the world in a decade from now.

The culture simply doesn’t understand anything about capitalism or entrepreneurship on an individual level. There is no work ethic and people don’t care about improving their society as a whole…it’s all about themselves. Argentinians prefer to do the bare minimum to survive. This is why they will never be a rich or powerful country.

That didn't happen. In the 80s my parents were making money. We lived in a big apartment in LA, with views of downtown. My father owned brand new cars. We wore good clothes. We lacked nothing. Least of all work. Work was plentiful. I don't know what era of Reagan you experienced but my family and the people around us had money. Everyone owned a new car. The kids in my schools wore nice brand name clothes. We all had pocket money. We were all children of immigrants growing up in LA. The Reagan era, is by far the most economically prosperous my family experienced.

One problem though, Argentina does not have the biggest trump card: $$$ reserve currency status. No way to export inflation. So in reality, it is very bad for the people with low socio-economic status.

Reduce government spending but cut taxes and regulations can maybe help Argentina attract investors and companies to build business in the country.

Getting rid of a bloated bureaucracy sounds good to me.
So 75K people are going to lose their jobs. That’s 75K plus their families losing their income and purchasing power. They will be unable to pay their bills. The businesses that these people purchase from is going to lose customers. This has a ripple effect on the economy. Austerity measures have never worked in growing an economy.

Those 75K families should go and complain to the previous Peronistas presidents who created those jobs (most cozy office jobs) with taxpayer money when they shouldnt have in the first place. One of the worst enemies of Argentinas economy is GOVERMENT SPENDING.

Lower inflation and more stable prices are actually excellent for creating wealth in the private economy. Almost all successful nations have a long term history of low stable inflation.

Keeping 75000 useless and incompetent people in government jobs is not the way to help the country or the economy, it's just a huge waste that is paid for by all the people who pay taxes, or by all the people that face incredible inflation as the government prints money to pay for this waste. Yes, it sucks to loose your job... but then get up and find another job, make your own job as entrepreneur, do what you have to do. Argentina is finally on the right track and the people are behind Milei. Short term pain to achieve longterm prosperity.

Part of that is printing money for the use of thr state, so reducing the state to a sustainable size in needed.
