thoughts on ruminating

Let's talk about OCD and rumination, spiraling into anxiety and depression, and tools that we can use to better cope with grief from our childhood traumas.
Hi, I'm Corey. I am a writer/actor/comedian based in Los Angeles. 🎤
➡️ I have dealt with mental health issues since the fifth grade. Now I want to laugh with them. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Anxiety Disorder, and Depression. I'm not a doctor, but that’s exactly why my brother said I should talk about it.
This is a literal self help channel. For me, and hopefully for you. 🙌

Hey Jayson! It is scary to create and then put yourself out there. It is also thrilling! It is also magic! Also, what is the worst that could happen? What are you working on?

We grab onto thoughts because that's what we are most familiar with. Our lizard brain keeps telling us that that's ok. And then we fear change because our brain thinks it'll shatter our core beliefs (even though it won't). Whenever I find myself in a similar situation, I try to detach myself and look at it from a third-person point of view and say, "dafuk? You ain't got time for this shi* !" (A little humor does work sometimes) Learning new coping techniques is easy. It's the unlearning of intrusive thoughts that's hard.

Lol, a little humor is amazing to work with! "it's the unlearning intrusive thoughts that's hard." Love that, going to contemplate that. Thank you for your thoughtful comment and sharing, Mustafa!

I'm going to comment later when I'm have more time, but I did want to say one thing quick. Without a doubt there is more than one way to skin a cat and go with anything and everything that works. However, it's impossible to ruminate if you don't grab onto the thoughts. So, you must still be grabbing somehow? I do think that process comes harder to some than others

8:00 yeah. Lovely vid. The immediate thought I had was the discussion between brene brown and tim ferris about the armour that we wear that we have carried with us to “protect us” that no longer serves. Sounds like a subconscious breakthrough to me. VERY COOL 😎 Good to share and bear witness. I’ll ping you something via insta x
