I am genuinely upset when I see these influencers removing their hijab cuz there’s hardly any left that actually wear it correctly and as a mother I fear that my daughter would not want to wear it! Thank you Yaz. You were one of the people who inspired me to wear hijab since 10 years ago. You and zukreat. But I absolutely agree, nobody should be idolizing influencers. We shouldn't put anyone on a pedestal and then get shocked when they do something that didn't fit their prior image. Social media is deceiving. We all need to learn our own principles and stick to it. At the end of the day, this life is too short for me to be chasing validation from anyone else but the Creator.

I'm a new subscriber. I think hijab is absolutely beautiful and pleasing to God. I turned to hijab recently (and I am much older), because I wanted to run to Him for protection (from predatory behavior of men). The fact that you said you were 13, when you put on hijab and He has always protected you really struck a cord with me. Also, I commend you for keeping back your children from the social media. I wish more people would understand about the need for those protective boundaries. On a much lighter note, I was watching a tutorial about face shapes with hijab style when your name & picture came up as diamond-shaped. I have never been able to figure out mine but I am decidedly also a diamond and I also wear glasses which I couldn't find on the other models, either! So I appreciate that very much! I had to find out what your heritage is then... Correct me but an article stated you are Turkish and ¡Cubana! I am Greek/Balkan (my grandfather was born in Greece)-- also English/Irish & French/German with a tiny bit of Central Asian such as Pakistan or another "stan" and some ancestors actually derive from parts of Africa. I love that DNA can tell us so much about our family history! Please do not feel bad if you take a lot more time with your babies -- they grow up so fast and you will have an empty nest someday, the same as I. My children do so much for me and I am best friends with my 3 daughters but sometimes I have to make stuff up to get them to come for a visit. I think back on those times when I wished their nap would be just a little longer so I could get something done! Believe me that your followers will look for you, Insh'Allah!

The association of removing of hijab with trying to attract the opposite gender is so naive and third world. I didn't expect you to have this view. You are in a sheltered, capsuled world. Hijab works for people like you. You don't have to go work as an employee, you don't have to walk around a country where the population is predominantly hateful of hijab. You are not alone. Before you talk about this subject, you need to educate yourself about it. There's a lot more to it than how you described it like a housewife from a third world country where opinions are just handed down from neighbour to neighbour.

She wore the hijab way before she choose to become a mother or what you call a “house wife”. She still goes out in public and to many events with the hijab on. Yeah... and she lives in Florida, which everyone knows is Not very supportive of covering your body or hair. Idk what offended you so much? l found this talk to be so sincere and from the heart. And this comment is a good example of finding 'excuses' to not put on a hijab or taking it off. Maybe it's harder to find a job or you have some negative encounters because you wear a hijab...but that doesn't mean it is a valid reason to not obey Allah. I am a teacher in the Netherlands. Not really a 'muslim friendly' country, but I always have managed to get a good job, while wearing long covering clothes and a hijabi. People treat me with respect, even those who openly say that they don't like the headscarf/islam (so what?!). I am not here in this world to 'please' other people! I believe that when you feed your imaan, you can't be bothered by what people think.
