He seems so happy teaching him I like that
tommy's not just great guitarist but a great person too!
Scott is EXTREMELY lucky to have done this with the Master. They're BOTH great players. The difference I see between TE and everyone else playing his stuff is That everyone else is copying him (which never sounds as good as the original), and TE is a more "dynamic" player. He puts more of himself into every note, and expresses key facets from chord and key changes much more obviously than other player of his music. The differences between being the Master and the student.
What I really like when Tommy teaches and plays with people in a situation such as this, is that he still pours himself into the music. I think that makes it a lot more rewarding for the student to see that Tommy is enjoying himself as well. Well played, must've been a lot of fun! I find his flatpicking songs to be quite tricky, but you've got it down nicely. :) Thanks for uploading the videos.
Dude he's so good at harmonizing
what a generous man to do something like this before a show. Most folks would want to be rested or whatever, but he seems to be tireless to share with people. Good on him. Good on you.
You are very lucky to have had this opportunity! I heard about his concert in Oslo Norway only a month after he had been here :x He seems like a great guy from what I find with him around the net, not just an amazing guitarist.
I love the way tommy harmonizes to this song. its easily one of his most heart moving pieces!
This video just confirms Tommy's greatness as an unspoiled world star..
Leaving his legacy for the next generation.
WOW...young man, you should remember this the rest of your life.....learning from the VERY BEST!!! Amazing that he was so interested in you getting it right... He's my hero, too...
How cool would it be if years from now some kid posts a video of himself playing with Scott Tsai and all the comments are "Whoa! You played with Scott!?!"? I really think it could happen. So awesome seeing one generation giving to the next.
Hello Scott, i adore you so much, you are a very talented guitar player, having the same wonderful feeling like Tommy... and you met him, what else on earth could be better? Greetings from Germany Stephan
One of the best videos on KZread...
“It’s a little bit difficult but that’s what the composer intended “ dude u are the composer 😂😂 u got love Tommy
its very cool stuff.. and it would be his precious moment with TE..
Scott you sound great-thanks for all the help learning these songs-God bless, you are very talented
HOLY %&$#!!! How in the world did you get that opportunity?? That had to be the greatest moment EVER for you! Lucky dog!
WOW. Loved your video clip. Truly imspiring to watch. You must be an accomplished player to have picked up what you did... just in this clip. I'd love to hear/see what you play... (I plan to explore your YT channel shortly). I just saw TE in Austin last weekend. 2nd time for me. Just wonderful. He truly is an amazing musician. Thanks for sharing.
haha! I wish my hands were big enough to play this song the way TE plays it. It kinda bugs me when I gotta keep "watering down" a song to make it playable for myself, but I definitely feel you on that one. Tommy Emmanuel is one soulful dude.
TE is a technical genius!
you got talent bro you both sound fantastic together very very nice
Good job, no pressure playing for a master guitarist....well done

Even if there's pressure it's the pressure of joy that I'd take anyday. Just simply observing how Tommy interacts with different people regardless of the skill level he just seems like the perfect person to enjoy music with.
wonderful, Scotty!! keep them coming!
Enjoyed ! WAy to Go ! Lots of fun to hear and see your videos ! Great going !
Blessed to play with the best!!!
Priceless!
Wow....how cool is this. I'm pretty jealous....and you did great, man. Awesome! Tommy seems like such a cool cat...makes me dig his stuff even more knowing he's so positive and down to earth. Can't wait to get MY lesson!
i originally gave up trying to learn this song for the same reason you mentioned within this video. My hand simply isn't large enough to pull off some of the combinations which are listed in the tabs for this song...it upsets me that something physical will limit me from being able to play such an amazing song
you could use a capo! Just capo it to the fret where it'll still sound nice, and you can get all those stretches!
Amazing, i feel it.
Muy bueno (very good) ... excelente, me gusta mucho. (excelent, i like it very much)
amazing dude. I wish that was me. Good job on your playing too. i subscribed. We play in similar style.
giving man
yup, i agree.
you're amazing mate, i can see it, everyone on youtube can, even tommy can, but ultimately, i hope you can :)
Lucky! I wish i could have a face to face guitar lesson from tommy
oh my goodness just thinking tommy teaching me *faints* its like a dream come true meeting a superstar xD
How on earth did you manage to have a lesson with him? Haha :):) you're really talented.. Keep it up ;)
one lucky guy you are!!!
so damn LUCKY!!! hahaha this is awesome!
yeaaaaaaah!
Well this is something to talk about and it never gets old. Man you have a video proof and everithing. Great! By the way Im just a little bit jelous :-)
Are you from the U S A . Where was this Taped. How did you hook up with the greatest living guitar player on the face of the planet. Thanks for sharing this.I am so blown away. Good luck with your playing.
Oh it's Tommy again :)
As i wrote to yur first video, you bith nailed it, but why don´t you upload the whole video you have? I am sure many people would like to see it whole, not only the parts when you are playing with Tommy. But not like someone would get bored of it, just to see everything that happened in the backstage.
Tommy Emmanuel respects your skills...You're pretty damn good
cool thing
lol, "no i just have the normal calluses" haha, tommy is awesome
@ScottTsai oki know your either tired of hearing this or think this is a silly question... but how in the hell did you get a lesten with hi,? thats incredible. your very lucky =)
Hey darqs! I have good news for you. Alvarez makes a mini (perhaps 3/4 size) dreadnought that sounds pretty good for 400 dollars. It's called an MSDI. I have the same problem as you with small hands. (my videos bear this out.) I'd check them out! I may get one JUST so that I can perform pieces like this. As it is, I put the capo on 2nd fret with a blueridge BR-183. : ) gare
i understand what you mean. i do have the same problem...
:O you are both reeeeeeeeaally good :P but where did you meet tommy? o.O
you play really well ! who's the old man on the right with the blue blouse ??? He doesn't play bad either :-) :-)
me = jealous... that was sweet man. I only want to know how he plays the beginning of the chorus the last time through... when he plays a higher pitched harmony in the beginning. He plays it around 2.44.... do you know how?
m8 u are f**king good, do u do any of ur own stuff?? very interested to know...
wow what'd you do to get a personal lesson with him?
i agree with you guys but these are the videos exactly as they are. unfortunately for some reason my friend, ahem, didnt record the other conversation.
how come that you met him??
how did you get to play with him?
of course i was, but i'm not sure if angelusduy was too...
I would be cacking myself and fuck it all up if i was playing infront of "the man"
@DavdCashn dude i knew he reminds me of someone :D thx :D
if u mean tommy.. i think hes play his EBG808te if u mean me.. im playing a 150 dollar yamaha (fg 150 i think)
well, those i think, were on-the-spot arrangement. why not you try that out?
i never have been able to figure out what this abbreviation means. anyone ?
If I was the guy sitting in front of Tommy I would be way to nervous to be able to play anything :P
aha ! :-) thanks... hehehhe
lol which guy whose plays the guitar not have callouses on the left hand?
unfortunately my friends didnt record that stuff sorry
hahah i can actually play this now...but i have to cheat to play it :P
please tell me you're kidding
But who's tapping their foot? It's not Tommy (for once!).

Zane Charron i think it's Tommy's left foot?
my jealousy....
I know right? I would do anything short of killing someone to meet him (well I might kill someone if it meant I could meet the legend lol)
lucky sob
what a stupid question.
