    So glad to hear that you are pleased with the improvements to your turntable. It never ceases to amaze me how much music is contained by grooves that become exposed with new turntable/cartridge upgrades. This has not happened to the same degree with my digital gear which is now quite extensive. I enjoy these videos very much and your conversations with fellow Canuck Steve Westman.

    I use MP-200 on an SL-1210GR. I wasn’t overly impressed initially, but once it broke in it really is a great cartridge.

    I had a love / hate relationship with my TD 145. I sold it maybe 20 years ago but I kind of miss it.

    I have a Technics SL 1400 TT, which I bought new. A few years ago I put a Nagaoka MP110 cartridge on it. Amazing improvement!

    I got a Systemdek IIX900 and use my Thorens to "play" my records after cleaning, before they go on my MC.

    Linns sound amazing but for me you can upgrade them as much or as little as you want or can afford at your own pace. I've now owned mine since the early 1980's and over the years have upgraded it to the full Linn Klimax. A case of triggers broom, the plinth, hinges and cover are original the rest is brand new.

    I just picked up the "Boss" set for $25.00, very clean and in near mint conditions. I had it on CD's and now eager to compare the sound. Thanks for the tip.

    The Linn LP12 is/was not based on the Thorens, there was a civil action with 2 employees of AR and their turntable over the bearing design. The pair had worked at Linn and took the design to AR (Audio Research) They (AR) lost the case

    Hi Tim. Just discovered your channel and really enjoying your perspective. I am down in Englewood so at some point I’ll have to ventur north. I am new to this collecting vinyl. I have thousands of albums from the sixties through the eighties. I have always taken great care of my albums. I am just so surprised with this whole vinyl thing. Keep to up. I’m learning so much. Thanks.

    Tim- Love your video posts, and always look forward to the next one! You and Mazzy are my top VC guys. I also recently moved 1500 miles back to my hometown. I packed all my stereo equipment in my own vehicle for the trip home and had no issues. You have a great TT- that Thorens is just beautiful. I chose to get a Technics 1200g about 3 yrs. ago. I have Ortofon 2M Black and Ortofon Cadenza Bronze cartridges that I use with a Cambridge Audio pre-amp into my Marantz 2325. I am still in the process of getting my listening room together- also in my basement. I went about 4 months with everything packed away. I have a ways to go with getting the room dialed in, but at least have the stereo system up and running.

    Beautiful turntable, Tim. The TD-145 is such an absolute classic. It’s very aesthetically pleasing, especially next to your vintage McIntosh. The MP-200 is a great cart. Nagaoka carts are MI carts, not MM, and the MI carts I’ve heard seem to have a sweeter midrange. Grado and Stanton immediately also come to mind as well. I’ve owned the MP-110 as well as the MP-500, which has a micro line stylus. Awesome WLP Aerosmith! Very cool. Great find with The “new” Cars record. Hope to see ya on George’s livestream again. Have a good one, Tim. 🔊😊🎶

    You might have been right about my acoustic guitar placement! I noticed a weird rattling sound today and it was the guitar body reverberating. I'm moving it to a new spot.

    I like my Nagaoka mp110 (aka bumblebee) cartridge. According to KZreadr Joe Collins it is a great all around cartridge with a stylus shape that will not damage styrene 45 records or mono records. Coming from using Sure cartridges, I like the sound of the Nagaoka mp110. I use the mp110 on my pioneer plx1000 and an ortofon mono cartridge on my technics mkV 1200.

    Wish I had some one here who I could trust to work on my Thorens. I recently got a 160 Super with an SME M2 tone arm and Denon DL110 cart. Sounds amazing especially compared to my old Project Debut Carbon. Problem is that it tends to skip on even the most minor scratches. Took it to a local guy to make sure it was et up correctly, balanced etc. They screwed it up, then fixed their screw up, sort of. I got the tracking force at 1.8, but still tends to skip. Pretty frustrating. When it plays through it sounds amazing. Also wish it had a tone arm lift and turntable shutoff. Oh well, just needed to vent.

    Hi Tim, I also have this TT for about two years now with a discontinued Shure M44-7. Does your unit have a problem achieving 45 RPM speed at times? How’s the wow and flutter? BTW great Byrd album on the back. Street lady is just as good

    Hi, thanks for commenting. I have noticed that the table is slow to get up to 45rpm speed ... it usually takes several seconds but seems to be "true" when it does achieve the speed. I haven't tested the wow/flutter but my tech did and the table is performing well with no lag in speed. Thanks

    Hey Tim, how are you liking the MP-200? I bought a MP-150 for my Project 2Xperience SB, to replace an Ortofon 2M Blue that's up there in hours, but it keeps going and going. You worried about the 200 hour stylus life Nagoaka states?

  • @Universityofvinyl

    @Universityofvinyl

    Loving it so far but really early into it...still need to get more break in time. I'm not too concerned with the 200 hr thing...My MP 110 has far exceeded that and still sounds great. The cool thing about Nagaoka is you can just get a replacement stylus when it's needed for not too exorbitant cost
