Rondo violin strings sound great on many different instruments but are particularly popular among soloists playing old instruments. The RO100 set comes with a synthetic core, aluminum wound A-string, providing great modulation and a rich spectrum of sound colors.
For those wanting to stay true to the traditional steel A-string or looking for 100% corrosion resistance and easier playability, Rondo offers a steel A-string without the common downsides of sounding too bright or shrill. Subject to availability.

Michael, Thank you, I enjoy your rambling on strings. Allows us to get a feel of the different string with out breaking the bank, and by the way very nice playing, love the look when when you miss a note🤫 if only I could play 10% as well as you I would be a happy camper. Thanks for the effort it takes to make these comparison videos. Mark

Hi, I love these on my old violin because it gives the instrument room to breath, old wood expands and contracts much more than a modern violin. I used pirastro perpetual and when I switched to regular dominants on D and G my violin got 30% more sound. Now I use rondo on D and G and perpetual A and E ,the E one thats slightly thicker ,doesn't come in a set. It really works on both of my instruments. Interesting fact ,apparently Hillary Hahn loves and uses regular old school dominants . Tension is not always the answer particularly if one has an older instrument. Thank you for all your videos. I am a professional violinist, have been playing for 32 years and grew up in Europe .

@@Fiddlershop Update I used the Rondo and honestly like mentioned on the Thomastik chart they are VERY similar in sound to Dominant Pro and PI. The new TI and the Blue Infeld were more soloist to me for that brillance you get from the strings

Well personally I think the vision titanium solo are better for half the price my girlfriend just bought the vision TS and I am suprised how her violin came to life. I never liked her violin with all the other strings she has bought (gren evah perazzi dominants lasrsen etc) but vision are amazing and really cheap they are a hiden gem there is a reason why violinist like PInchas Zukerman an others uses them as well. By the way thanks for this video it answered a lot of my questions about the rondo I am a fan of this section in this channel.

Helpful as usual! All the premium Thomastik strings sound similar to me, if I were blindfolded, I wouldn't tell them apart just by listening. They may feel different though, to me Pi feels softer on the fingers than Dominant (both classic and pro), would you say the same for Rondo?

How would you note response for Il Cannone Lasren ? You did a review on them but I dont think you gave them notes as you did here. I love the sound of them but they have poor response (inferior to other Larsen I tried, classic and Vitruoso), they are very demanding and don't allow a large possibility/variation of bow pressure (sound breaks too easily).

Michael, would the steel wound A in this set be good for someone who blows through A strings every 8 weeks or so due to my "finger sweat" composition that keeps breaking the winding down super fast? Still trying to find a solution to this and hoping it could be this?

It seems to me like they are intended for serious pro who uses old refined instrument that by itself sounds really deep (because those strings sound a little bright also they are not shouting loud but it seems like their sound is very refined)

If anyone has experience with them, I'm curious how long they last. I've been considering Pirazzis (which worked well for the previous owner of my instrument)but heard they don’t have a very long lifetime. So I wonder if these would be a good alternative. Both are quite expensive, so a short lifetime doesn’t sound appealing.

Well, I always give them a couple days to settle in. But also keep in mind I'm only playing them on the Fiddlerman Artist violin (about a $720 violin), so it's not the world's best instrument...which is also part of the point of these videos. If I played all these strings on an amazing instrument, people would just say "oh, well, yeah but that violin will make everything sound good"
