I really think Thomas Whitfield was a genius. He was such a creative music minister. I will never forget the first time I saw him on television. We had never had cable television and I was about 18 years old. It was a year he won a Dove award or something like that. I can't remember the specific award. But I do remember how he cried and how he was so humble. He gave all the glory to Jesus and it was etched into my mind. He had a precious spirit and he really loved Jesus. God bless him. All these years after he has gone into heaven, his ministry is still pointing to Jesus and lifting people up.

He was and he was way before his time!!
It's 2022 and I have not heard any group with the level of depth in soulful worship as "Thomas Whitfield and THEE Whitfield Company" I remember when he passed while in college some of my college classmates loaded up and headed for Detroit. His music has gotten me through many years from college to seasoned adult. It's been a blessing for over over 30 years...I thank God for the gift and the music he left in the Earth. The Maestro.
This is my 1st time seeing Thomas Whitfield. I've only known of him by reputation. He died very young. By the time I embraced gospel music he had passed unexpectedly. I heard my 1st Thomas Whitfield song yesterday.

I had the opportunity to see him at Gospel Music Workshop of America Board Meeting. This started my love affair with his music. He was called "The Maestro." Of course, you can see why. Yes, he was beloved in the Gospel Community.
Love this song giving the glory yes lord

Good old Winston Poe directing the choir. Love you Winston!

That's neat to have seen him I imagine.
Tommy's use of the 6th degree of the scale as an inversion in the vamp is still unique today in 2022. #Ingenius
I Lost Count How Many Times I Listen To The Beautiful Song!
I never knew how much I love this song until I saw the most recent comments are from me and I am an atheist. lol.. I love watching videos from the 80s and 90s that are before my time and I can say that: That drummer's hair was wayyy ahead of it's time. We'd wear that today... 3:25

That was a common hair style, in the 90s. Just about everyone was wearing it. But I hear ya... hopefully the songs are ministering to you 🙏🏾😇
Sooooooooo many incredible and monumental events took place in this church … Alive and Satisfied concert…. Thomas Whitfield funeral service … and the “Still” recording ❤
3:29 is why Thomas Whitfield was so gangsta with it! Straight up innovative black music. Sad you don't hear it like this in church now
favorite Whitfield song...perfection

Tarsha Haynes You know I try my best to be as open as possible to a lot of this New Music and some of it is good if you like choirs like myself but most is hit and miss sometimes and only artist like Thomas Whitfield and His group and singers keep me stuck in the era of real music. I literally have just about all his cd's.👍

I agree---Most of the new choir stuff is basic and they modulate like 10 times....no substance

Do you have the tribute to Whitfield that Earl J Wright produced??? It was a tribute right after Whitfield passed. It is good too

Tarsha Haynes No I'm going to have to look that up for purchase.👍..then about 4 months ago I ran across a song I had never heard b4 and I thought that Thomas Whitfield sound makes since now. The song was I Want To Always Know You(1979).. and I played that song so much on You-tube that I can practically teach it😀... Absolutely Beautiful🙌
My "Favorite" song on this project... (And they sang a Hymn). But in all honesty if theres any CD you need in your library by Thomas Whitfield this is definitely it cause it's a worship journey you'll Never 4get. "EVERY SONG" on here is Perfect!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

The Hope Andro Show I just saw this. I overlooked it . He meant that thing!
I had the pleasure of meeting one of his close friends, from childhood until his untimely death, and he said he (thomas Whitfield) basically ate himself to death. I wonder if he had realized he was killing himself if he would have changed his diet? I grew up on this anointed music! Love Thomas Whitfield and this choir! My mother wore this vhs out lol!
