OMG...I was at this recording, Clevelaned, OH...I took 3 RTA buses through snow to get to the Civic Auditorium for this recording...I was 16, my parents put me on punishment for a month, I didn't care. Wow...this is legendary video!

Truly Thomas Whitfield was ahead of his time and his chords was ahead of its time. He was one of the greatest men in Gospel Music. Nothing like Detroit Gospel. One historical note: He produced and did the music for Vannessa Bell Armstrong's 1st Album "PEACE BE STILL" which is still a classic album.

Wow! I miss Thomas Whitfield! Growing up singing his intricate and precise melodies was like like being trained by a master vocal coach. Not many choirs/singers could truly replicate the moves and changes in his original productions without tons of practice. There are many of us who recognize the awesome gift God gave us in this humble Maestro and the legacy left by Min. Whitfield and we are surely grateful! The epitome of ministry thru music!

This from Sound of Gospel's War on Crack Concert in Toledo, Ohio back in the day. SOG had their whole roster there: Donald Vails, Jerry Q. Parries, Craig Brothers, Esther Smith, and of course The untouchable Whitfield Company. I was there that night!

This is STILL one of my all-time favorite songs by ANYBODY. Dude singing the lead is "ON IT". Those were the days when people sang with power and the annointing and not for a chance to be on BET's Celebration of Gospel. lol What a powerful song. I didn't know if I was gonna break out in a dance or have a "baptist fit" and pass out at my computer. lol Thanks for sharing this gospel classic!!! :)

Does anyone have Whitfield singing "Dear Jesus" or Soon as "I Get Home"? I know that this may start something, but Whitfield was to the 80's what James Hall was to the 90's. They both added a level of musical prowess that was not seen by most to the choir scene.
