You have to understand football to know just how good Muller is because he plays with no flair or finesse, he dosen't shoot from distance and isn't pacey but his ability to consistently find space without being offside and the number of assists he has is world class not to mention he is the perfect second striker

Imagine the scout team that first found him: - I want that guy in my team - WHAT??? I don't even know what's he been doing in the game. - EXACTLY!

The most impressive thing about Muller is how seemingly unimpressive he is, not flashy, not an unreal passer or finisher, just effective and smart, it's what makes him so incredibly good.. but in saying that his understanding of space is unrivaled these days.

What I really love about that is that those rare occasions where he pulls a chip over the GK or one-touch back heels a pass back to his teammate it's all the more unexpected. He's the perfect example of how basically every avarage joe football player should play like. Müller just does it at an elite level 😂.

It says more about the marketing of the game than about Muller to be honest. The Messi and Ronaldo myth of the last decade was created to make money bringing attention to fancy step overs or things that seem alien or inhuman. Sure, both are great players but one player does not win you a game and it is a dangerously dumb narrative for young footballers.

@@aurelian2668 Neither Messi nor Ronaldo have won a world cup. If one player made that much of a difference then Messi would have won a world cup by now. Messi is a contender for best of all time. Ronaldo probably is in the top 10 somewhere. However the way individual players are overhyped over actual teams in recent years is crazy. The balor Do'r used to be a joke award that no players cared about winning since they thought it was stupid to give awards to an individual in a team sport where everyone has different roles. However as marketing has overtaken the game the players all seem to now care way too much about that award along with the fans. There has been a strategic push by finacial backers to push individuals over teams on fans to make money.

Dribbling is usually the least effective way to get the ball in the right place. Players that mold their game around Messi or Ronaldo when both of them are basically just genetic freaks should reconsider emulating Muller instead.

I wish you all the luck but sadly unless your team play quick passes too and your coach understands the importance of space design Muller style might go unnoticed. So many amatuer club managers say "more off the ball movement" however a great team doesn't just "run around aimlessly off the ball" where none of them know where each other is moving. A good team should have their off the ball runs planned so when one player moves the others know where they need to be to complete the play. However, as I said sadly most low ranked coaches aren't capable of actually getting the team synced like that so they just let the inmates run the assylum, and when that happens it is often the dumb central players that control the build up and the flat footed number 9's that the coach will reward and then force a culture of stupid footall upon the team lol. Its why its so important to get into an academy early is to escape that sort of amatuer club culture.

This man is miles ahead of his time. World is still not ready to understand Thomas Müller

One of my all time favorite players. Not beautiful dribbling or finishing, but creative and effective. Massively underrated.

This guys consistency is amazing. for the last decade at least 10 goals and 10 assists every season. AMAZING

I love how he's no frills - and exactly as everyone said, always knows where to be. i never really noticed how little he dribbles!

If you asked me to name a superstar, Muller probably isn't the first name that comes to mind. But this guy has delivered so so often.

High vision and awareness are a must to play his style. I hardly hear people mention that. Might be his most overlooked qualities.

Man this guy is awesome, typically not a dribbler, shooter, not fast, even his passing ability is average but he always finds space and can score a goal in a situation we don't expect

He is the player every coach would want in his team

I love the fact that his play is often somewhat clumsy but captivating at the same time
