Why Thomas Frank's appearances on Thom Hartmann are always self-censored. Thom Hartmann cannot tolerate any prolonged criticism of the democratic party. Let's remember - Thom Hartmann has on his show, professed his love and admiration for installed lobbyist, Nancy Pelosi and actually, on many occasions after the Primary, pronounced Hillary Clinton as the Democratic Party's new "FDR." Outside of the Hartmann show, Frank can actually speak his mind. The only KZreadrs I know of who are LEFT of Thomas Frank are Jimmy Dore and Lee Camp.

I grew up with Bill Clinton, Same High School, he graduate 2 Years before me. Bernie Ward, the “Lion of the Left,” as he was known for years on KGO radio before his 2008 conviction for possession and distribution of child pornography, popped up in a Washington Post story this week on embattled Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. Ward recounted his years as a marriage and sex education teacher at Washington’s Georgetown Prep, where his students included both Kavanaugh and sitting Justice Neil Gorsuch. Ward described how an atmosphere of excess pervaded the Jesuit boarding school where he taught in the early 1980s. “The drinking was unbelievable,” Ward told the Post. “It was part of the culture. A parent even bought the keg and threw one of the parties for the kids. They took umbrage when I compared their rooting around with girls to dogs in heat.” The once-talkative Ward has mostly been silent since his release from federal prison in December 2014 after serving a six-year sentence for the child pornography conviction.

The elephant in the room is that our socioeconomics has become Libertarian. Both political parties in the USA focus to varying degrees of Libertarianism (repackaged as neoliberalism for the Democratic Party) such as: LGBTQ rights, free trade, open borders, professional class, money in politics, pro-millionaires, pro-business, pro-entrepreneurial, and pro-immigration. The Republican Party, on the other hand, is genuinely Libertarian with economics nowadays. Although Trump is tinkering with 1900s populism that Teddy Roosevelt implemented and spoke about. It is safe to say that outside of Trump, many Republicans are very much Libertarian regarding economics but traditional on the social issues.

Exactly. When are people going to learn that the former is a proper name while the latter is an adjective? Just look at any ballot on election day. It says "Democrat" next to the candidate's name, not "Democratic."

The Democratic Party traces its origins to the Democratic-Republican Party, founded by Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and others in 1792. Faction led by Andrew Jackson in his campaign of 1828 became modern Democratic Party. It formally adopted the name “Democratic Party” at its convention in 1844.

Gavin Snyder You have your head up your ass. Yes, one is a noun and one is an adjective. Just because the word "Republican" can be used either way doesn't mean that is proper for Democrat, a person, and Democratic, an adjective describing the party.

Obama was hamstrung by the system, put yourselves in the position to fight the greed on both sides and push through policies that cost big business and government for the benefit of all. It doesn't work because it's too much money... Not everyone can be chiefs, not everyone can live like millionaires simultaneously, but what we can learn to do is find a way to cycle ourselves in and out of various lifestyles sharing experiences and opportunities to create a balance where energy is never stagnated.

When, exactly, did the Democrat Party become the Democratic Party? If you answered "never" you'd be correct. Democratic is an adjective. Democrat is a proper name -- the name Andrew Jackson gave to the party. Whenever I see someone refer to it as the Democratic Party I cringe, because I'm looking at someone lacking some basic language skills.
