Anyone killing a child in cold blood needs to be put in jail without a chance _EVER_ to be out in the streets again. There simply is no way a person like this could be acceptable in society.

My heart goes out to the family of the murdered little girl. This man deserves to rot in prison and never be released
42 years is a very heavy sentence indeed for British weak standards.... well done to the Judge on this one. Hope he gets prison justice every day of that 42 years
The judge said: the circumstances, don,t warrant a full life term. But irrespective of if he intended to murder this young girl or not.....he was intent on murdering his target. He was wandering around spraying bullets, so that warrants a full life sentence. In the course of ANY crime: if someone is killed, irrespective of the intent: then they SHOULD, get a full life sentence. Just pack them 10 to a cell, no bedding, or heating, and one meal of pig slop a day. Bring back capital punishments, medieval style.

For the benefit of those who do not understand the difference between Murder and Manslaughter i offer a simple but very well informed explanation. A person commits murder if they carry out any deliberate act that is likely to result in death. it makes no difference if its pre meditated of planned 5 seconds or 5 days in advance as those are simply aggrivating factors. in this case the defendant carried out a deliberate act of pulling the trigger which in the minds of the jury is likely to result in the death of whoever gets hit by the bullet and the fact that the child was not the target makes no difference whatsoever. Manslaughter differs in that the defendant has carried out an act that has resulted in death however the intent was not to kill but to inflict harm. An example would be the defendant punches somebody in the face who falls , hits their head and dies. 42 years seems fair to me and the fact he killed a kid wont be popular with his fellow inmates so hopefully he will be buggered senseless.......

They should give him to the victims and the victims family to do whatever they want to do to him. Let them deal with him. Prison is basically a bed and breakfast without much fresh air

Slightly off topic here ..... I thought cameras weren't allowed in prison?
Wassup with the redcoat and wigs ??
Child killers should be locked up until they are old and frail and then when they are broken, killed in the way they killed their victim. Although murdering any innocent is horrible, children are blameless and only a monster could harm one. Monsters should be treated as such. This isn't a case of some lad punching someone who lands funny and hits their head and dies, death without intent to kill for example, this is pure evil.
It's only going to get worse.killing children now.thats how bad it's getting her mum has got a life sentence now not having her daughter in this world no more .I can't amagin how bad this is .Wayne

What makes decent people sick, and not just in this case, is that prisoners are given the choice as to whether they appear in court. Bring them along in a cage, gagged if necessary!
It's about time we bought back the death penalty, and all charges should run consecutively as they do in the USA, if they get a life sentence they leave the prison in a wood box.
