Blue was childishly impatient with those comments. Like mate it's a turn based strategy game, just because you might not like to take the time to think does not mean other people shouldn't. Also the time control was a minute per turn. How many split screen subway surfer videos do you have to watch to think that 1 minute is long?

Perfect board to place 4th. Blue was insane for that road, very satisfying taking his settle away.

This is a prime example of why Wood Brick isn't as good as Ore, Wheat, Sheep. Because dummies flip out over wood brick. And especially because it's much quicker to get road than army, that person zooms into "the lead" then stalls at 7,8,9...while dev player just crush late game. Still, super glad you won. So satisfying. I was fuming watching this xD

The other thing is the complexity of resource composition and production power. With OWS you need 2 resources to very quickly double your production with the cities. With WB you need 4 resources in specific order to build roads and settlements. With max 7 card hand and dice variance it's way more difficult to manage that. The chance of 7ing out is bigger along the WB strategy road. And you almost never get as powerful expansions as your starting spots are making the WB production inherently inferior to OWS.

The real issue is definitely the psychology. People spend a ton of early game anxiety trying to fulfill early wishful thinking about expansion spots, and mid-game anxiety fretting about having enough spots to finish on VPs. They hate everything and everyone that could plow them and resent anyone who gets "lucky" enough to fulfill their early game expansion opportunities. Who is actually winning / has a late game doesn't enter the brain of 99% of people playing on Colonist.

This video felt faster paced than usual. I like it

Road settle on the 6 2 sheep port was the play not to plow back. Orange pulled the first dev which was road builder they could have plowed you to the 6 2. You would have pulled this at 4:57 by porting two sheep for an ore, and probably been able to plow back to the 10 11 3 anyway. The six rolled four times after that so you missed out on four ore which would have been an early city on the 6 5 9 Regardless of the results orientated outcomes, the 6 ore completes your setup. You would have the best ore, best sheep, 9 wheat, best wood and best brick (you have the best of every resource) and arguably the best ports with a safe 3:1 and sheep port. The 10 11 3 is nice as you double the ten brick and get another wheat spot but I don't think it's worth it

I don't know why you risk your game when you could get one of the ore spots to get amazing OWS production. Why is that spot so important?

4:47 I think this double road play is not worth it at all. Getting settled on ore feels much more important than taking a low production expansion away from another player, and it risks antagonizing another player really early on Commenting before watching the whole video

At 8 mins, it was actually you winning ... winning hard. Since you produced by far most of the bricks, only shared with green. So your potential to grow on the map was most scary. Orange was rdy for good late game, but you were in the lead atm.

You have to play the board, as 4th pick you are almost always left with bad ows spots. Better to take strong wb than mediocre ows with heavy competition.

@@zwxyer Exactly. In 4 player catan you very rarely have the luxury of choice of strategy. Most of the time the board plays itself.

Thank God blue didn’t win. They are one the worst types of player to deal with.

You are always getting jacked anyway to leave points on the table for a useless double pop is wasting turnes you could have winning rolls. To believe they wont jack you to death just because you have a knight is a pipe dream i think. But just my opinion you are the pro so maybe i don't understand some things.
