THIS WIND-UP BIVVY IS NO WIND-UP! | JRC EZ-Winder

𝗘𝗣𝗜𝗖 𝗦𝗔𝗟𝗘! 3 issues of CARPology for £3! ⇢ bit.ly/3Issues43
It feels like the JRC Stealth EZ-Winder carp bivvy has been on the verge of arrival for years, but now it’s finally here and it’s attracting some big-name fans and plenty of interest. The bivvy’s unique selling point is its spider-style frame, and the central boss from which its eight legs sprout is, quite literally, a wind up. Crank the handle that sits where a traditional brolly’s bell cap would be and the legs splay out and lock in position. After seeing Adam Penning using one, CARPology's Luke Venus was suitable impressed and was keen to try one for himself. Here's what he made of this unique carp bivvy...

tempest brolly all ya need.
I do love a gimmick brolly, I'd never buy one but I love seeing the ways they come up with to overcomplicate something that's supposed to be quick and easy.
Haha you can even see him out of breath and fed up with it on the second set up! Good effort tho, he did his best. When someone has to make excuses for it (oh it’s coz it’s new) you pretty much know the score! And if the manufacturer is reading this…what you want him to do? He did his absolute best there!
That mechanism has got lack of longevity written all over it, wouldn't trust it to last any longer than 6 months especially in bad weather

@@leeellis1254 I am curious as to how you can use a product for 2 years when it has only been on the market since November 2021. That's 8 months ago at the time of writing this !

@@computermick Hi, I received the prototype as did others across Europe nearly 3 years ago, giving us plenty of time to assess, I still use my prototype with no issues at all.
We go fishing for long enough that we need a bivvy to sleep in, for many people days on end, yet we're obsessed with making them rapid to put up. Now, I'd love to think I had no spare time for setting bivvys up because the fish are queuing up for me to catch them but its just not the case. What's the rush all about? If they made them lighter and pack down smaller I'd be more interested. This wind up thing doesn't look like something that's going to work properly for very long.

Agreed pal I take my time settings my bivvy up ,it's home for 48hrs minimum so why the rush.If fish are showing I might put a PVA bag in on one rod while I get everything else perfect.
I was knackered watching you put that up 🤣🤣😁👍
Great summer tent be hard work in winter with cold hands, great video as usual 👍🏻
I personally cannot see the point in that shelter, quicker to just use a oval brolly unless i'm missing something.
I’m a big JRC fan, I bought the 2 man with the overwrap years ago and had no problems, however this looks like it will snap in no time 😳 not to mention people trying to wind it down when you’re sleeping 😂 what’s wrong with a standard brolly mechanism 🤷♂️
I think what this is lacking is some where to grip it while you wind it. But even though it was still quick, it looked awkward.

It's actually OK when you get used to it, no problem with the winding or where to grip/hold
I don't know where In the world you are fishing, but hey the weather, looks pretty cool, and the grass is quite green
Nice to see you out great catch. Not impressed with that bivvey much. But do like the concept of review and in sesh great idea
I'm not sold on the winder part, what happens if you get moisture or water in that part & the temp drops & then freezes or dirt & grit?
@leeellis1254
Жыл бұрын
It's a sealed unit, I have not had any moisture/dirt ingress at all
I think we can all agree that not only is it ugly. That is gonna be a nightmare putting away in freezing conditions
The rib design look's great for stability... But no need for a winder, imo.. Just something that looks like it could break are get clogged with grit and fail..
Hallo Jungs Ich denke nicht das sich das durchsetzen wird. Leider eine sehr anfällige Konstruktion und meiner Meinung nach nur ein Hype. Das Torsion Bivvy war schon kein großer Erfolg. Grüsse aus Trier
Compare it to the cygnet one better still another £100 and you can get an aqua pioneer if you’ve got £600 to spend on one you’ve got £700
Can anyone tell which bag he is using at 0:45. Thank you!
Just bought one of these for £180 on TFT 👍

Hi everyone this is ugly im sticking to the traker tempest 100 you can get one for £199 pounds if you look around when packed away its 3ft 7 inches and it weights 5kg packed away it takes mins to put up stay well stay safe tight lines everyone.
That looked easy 😂😂😂
Looks grim that tbh, and that winder is a no for me.... still love the titan hide xl

Hide XL, pinnacle of bivvy design and simplicity. Plus it doesn’t cost £500!
Corr I wish I could spend the night like that with no front cover on the bivvy. My lake I get absolutely battered by mozzies and other bugs
Like the shape and look overall but wouldn't buy in to that mechanism... sorry JRC
I’ll stick to my Frontier X thanks
Why, just why ? Looked like it was about to break as he was winding. 😂😂😂
The price is a wind up !!!! Never worth that.
Until the winder brakes, after a few uses. It will be loose 🤣
Nahhhh not for me. Looks like a bit of a struggle and a bit awkward to handle.
They have been in the business years so hopefully this will be OK 👍
I had the greys torsion what a faff Great video but poor product
£500 for a bivvy that prob won’t last a couple of seasons!
thats gonna just break, i cant see that lasting

Nah, looks a ball ache, how long is that winder going to last🤔

not long!!! I can think of far better things to spend my £400 on - it was a great vid though!

Anything with moving parts is liable to give up the ghost. Stick to a normal Oval.
not for me
Looks ok but flimsy in that wind
It's a brolly
You winding me up
Its hard to believe it won’t break at some point, moving plastic parts 👎🏼
the size of the bag lol sod that for a laugh. What a joke, after a few uses itle loosen up, ok show us after a few uses when its loosened up then. No thanks, not for me. In fact if I saw somebody with it, I would have thought it was a "wind up"
Pointless only an idiot would buy that guaranteed problems
What a load of rubbish, come on jrc think the person who came up with this needs to go ,😂😂 must have just brought an umbrella from the range 😂😂😂
Paper thin material
Looks slower to put up than the usual hub designs. And more parts to break - which would render it useless if it did. Over engineered product that I’m Not sure will fly off the shelves
Looks horrible
Way overpriced, get a Trakker ev or fox frontier for same money.
Too much unnecessary talking. . .
You know that thing is going to totally fuc£ up one day when you go to set it up ! .but looks nice from the back 👌 . The fox XD is the best bivvy you can get your hands on now . Not cheap ,but that's life. I've had a lot of bivvy and the fox is the daddy ... don't waist your time spend your money well ...
