This Wild Canal Only Has BIG FISH!

Ойын-сауық

It's that time of year when the pike are spawning and we start to look towards bait fishing for other species. This time I was looking for my first tench of the year! It's usually too cold this time of year for them, but with a bout of mild weather my hopes were up, rods set and fingers crossed that we'd get some big fish on the bank!

As an American I love watching your videos to see all the interesting species you fish. Only fish we seem to have in common are perch and pike. But our perch generally don't get anywhere as big as the ones you get! Your vids are so fun and relaxing to enjoy.

100%. The fish care, reading the patterns for the fish, the presentation, music and himself give off a John Wilson vibe. We have TV companies burning money up the spout on trash shows when we could have low cost wholesome fishing shows presented by a few of the YT streamers. Fishing with Carl is another great channel. Stephen Hendry is doing better YT content than the BBC or ITV and trying to give the snooker players a personallity we don't normally get to see. Hendry, like Chris, is a top bloke.

I remember seeing pics of it in the Angling press (in carp, but it affects all Cyprinids). There was a red rash just like that. Or maybe it's the fish's natural colour?

I've fished for carp and tench in canals millions of times. No luck. The canals near me are always the colour of hot chocolate and there's so much boat traffic. I use the same methods on the river and I'm usually successful. So Chris and other professionals, is it me, or are the canals near me just absolute poop?
