Does the new EMMC have to be formatted when soldered to the motherboard?

It just needs to be pre programmed, or you have to run Minute_Menu and rebuild the MLC

Nice attempt but the programming seemed to be more involved than it should need to be. This newer Emmc chip technology appears to be a lot more complicated to program vs older type eproms and some of the programmers are quite expensive ($500+), Some of the newer TV's also have these chips. In fact, there's a guy online (TV repair) who has thousands of dollars of equipment just for Emmc chip rework. It's almost like trying to program a microcontroller. 😖 And you have to hope you get a good .bin file. Hope you get it figured out and can show us how you did.🙂

To programm an eMMC chip you litterally just need a SD card reader, you can get one for 10 buck or so. The older ones even seem to work better for this

Why not just get wii-u nand to sd card from voultar for $25? You could even upgrade it to 512gb nand.

@@chasefournier Not really about the challenge, wii u nand chips are dying like flies due to age/usage. Its the only logical thing to do, swap to microsd.
