She certainly injured the snake and no other reptile "professional " would have been that forceful. You're right. It hadn't hurt a thing except the poor possum but it wouldn't have needed to eat for weeks if she'd just left it be!

Oh, now I'm SERIOUSLY jealous! I went down to Tasmania 3 times in 2019 looking at property to buy and I absolutely adored it. I bought different family members down with me each trip but I think that I had decided that the South of Tasmania, somewhere within an hour of Hobart was where I wanted to be. Then came 2020, a change in circumstances and I didn't get to buy then but there is still hope. I've lived in NSW my whole life but I've never felt as "home" as I did in Tasmania! Are you drinking Tasmanian gin? I don't know if you're aware that there's an online shop called "Tasmanian Gourmet" that delivers Tasmanian produce across Australia? I REALLY want to buy some Sloe Gin and more Lark whisky before winter and Duncan has some amazing small businesses as well as the distilleries on the island that he trades with and sends to customers across Australia. It has to suffice for now I'm afraid but I do adore the Tasmanian cheeses as well. Take care now and thanks for reading.

@aarongrover2000 It's because the magnetosphere is changing and due north isn't where it used to be. I believe that we will see other changes, including which states you'll be able to see our aurora's over the next few months. Have you heard of the 4 gas giants Jupiter, Neptune, Saturn and Uranus which are going to, on October 27th this year, form a rectangle in the sky and we, the earth, are going to have no protection from the sun's magnetosphere, which is HUGE! Normally we have some protection. Scientists say that the earth may be pulled into an elliptical shape because of the gas giants on one side of earth and the sun on the other. Last time this happened was 77AD and a lot of earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and mud floods, apart from other things, occurred. Many died. Problem we are going to have is that the population is MUCH larger than 77AD and no governing body is warning anyone that this is going to happen. Trust me, they KNOW and were warned years ago! I can't stop the earth from opening and swallowing me up, and if it happens it happens, but you DO need to get prepared with a generator, enough diesel to run it, food medication, water and a portable water filtration unit or tablets. Life straws are great!. It's not who you know but what you know because the bastards in government aren't sharing! Finally, in 2012 my daughter met a recently returned soldier from East Timor who was being treated for PTSD. My daughter is the type of woman whom people just want to share stuff with because she's kind and people trust her. He told her this, and it's entirely up to you if you believe it or not. "If the Australian people knew what their government has in store for them, there would be rioting in the streets." Take care my friend.

My first memory is me as a six year old in 1959. We lived on a huge outback property (ranch/farm) in Australia. We were a distance from town and didn't have a tv yet. This day, I was going to lay on the floor to listen to the radio. It was a drama show of some kind, dad's favourite. Then I looked up. There wrapped around the rafter, was a freakin great snake. I couldn't get out of the house quickly enough. I was sobbing from the yard, screaming for my parents to get out of the house too. Well long story short, my dad came out to settle me, and it was then I was introduced to the Carpet Python, our pet apparently. Whatever, but when I knew that he'd come down from the roof, I suddenly remembered that it was time to play outside.

Like most people who live in cities or suburbs, I was nervous about snakes. After we retired and moved to a less populated area, I got used to pythons, which are non venomous. I'm still nervous about the venomous ones - we have red-bellied black (# 10 or thereabouts) and eastern browns (# 2 in the world) in the area, though I haven't seen one yet. We get visits from pythons every few months. They stay for a while, eat all the rats, mice, stuff like that in the area, and then move on. They are not aggressive unless you annoy them. They can bite when they are frightened or really annoyed and they have a mouth-full of very sharp teeth - lots of teeth. People keep them as pets. Ryan, here's an example of what pythons are like. A young woman calls the police for help when she has a 10ft python wrapped round her leg and she can't get it off. She apologises to the police for calling them out, saying that she could have handled it if someone else was around to help her. The female police officer says not to worry. It's the most interesting call-out they've had all day. They finally get the snake off her leg and the police officer asks if she needs help to get it back into its cage? "Oh no, she says. It's wild" as she carries the snake off to the trees at the side of the driveway. Pythons are not slimy or cold or any other of those beliefs. They are warm and feel great to stroke. Their skin is like velvet. kzread.info/dash/bejne/YpiGy86Qo8TLXdo.html Venomous snakes are very different. Do not try to stroke them. They can kill you.

Fun fact Bondi is pronounced Bon die not Bon dee :-) I just checked and a 24 pack of bottled water is on special @ $18.40 but singles are between $2.40 and just over $3 all of which is supremely stupid since our tap water is excellent! Despite that I see shopping trolleys with 3 - 4 huge packs every week...The house I used to live in I Sydney had a filtration system costing $126 per year for as much water as you can use...Compare that to over $950 for just one 24 pack on special each week...Just crazy! Village Gold Class has really slipped, by the looks of those seats. Aurorae are more likely at lower latitudes during periods of peak solar activity. The solar wind isn't constant and ebbs and flows kinda like atmospheric wind. It hits the Earth's magnetic field and is channelled towards the North and South Magnetic Poles along lines of equipotential strength. The red colour is caused by high-altitude Oxygen atoms interacting with incoming particles, gaining energy and emitting light in the red part of the visible spectrum. Definitely heading to the ground, not from. I saw some here in Geelong during the Solar Maximum of 1978, and blue/green "curtains" 11 years later.

The reaction would have been a whole lot different if it had been an Eastern Brown, or a Tiger snake. You've heard of the Northern Lights? We get the Southern Lights { The Aurora } down here, usually in Tas and Vic, and usually on clear -even slightly frosty - nights. Ours are usually less dramatically colourful or distinct than the Northern, but sometimes - like last week - we get a great show. Surely the Median House prices would be more accurate if they were by suburb or region? Lumping all the most expensive with everything else artificially inflates the poorer suburbs.

It sent my daughter and I on our recent 1st visit to Tassie where the sealed road became dirt but was still pretty good so we continued until I spotted a hand made, quite large sign hanging on a fence that I couldn't quite read. I told my daughter to back up, she didn't want to as she had booked a boat trip at our next destination but eventually acquiesced. The sign read : Ya better be in a 4x4 going forward. Google sucks.

Coke buys water from springs in my local area to bottle. Needless to say it is only the less smart people who buy it. Most people carry their own water bottle that they fill from their tap at home. My town also has bubblers (I think the US call them water fountains?) and taps so you can refill your water bottle while you are out.

Happy Arvo Ryan, what's the good news? Oh, that's an early Aurora Australis, best seen in Tasmania, which shows greens, blues, mauves, pinks all over the skies! Water 1.5 litre, 80c! All Australians should refuse to go to war again for the personal benefit projects of other countries! Let's 'forget' chocolate cake! Meanwhile in NSW, around 44,000 properties are empty and 196 newbuild ones are for particular Asians only! The Philippines has a lot of American culture! Japanese mainly eat raw fish! Google X that! 😵 See ya! 🙋

Ryan, the northern hemisphere has Aurora Borealis (northern lights) while the southern hemisphere has Aurora Australis (southern lights). Maybe you can add those to your topics for reactions. Interesting stuff! They have Latin names like so many things from historical records as do plants and animals, since man named those as well. This photo may have been the sunrise, which you can see in the aboriginal flag.

I live down south in one of Melbourne’s leafy eastern suburbs and I’ve never seen a snake in my garden or around the neighbourhood let alone in the house, only lots of kookaburras, magpies and cockatoos. You can see more in the north of the country where it’s hot and tropical. I can say for all my travelling around the countryside I’ve never seen a kangaroo, only lots of sheep. It all depends where you live. You can see more wildlife if you live in the country, the outback or country towns, not so much in the cities.

The price of a bottle of water and other drinks here tends to be marked up significantly to pay for business costs, including the cost of labour, as well as a hefty mark-up to accomodate the retailer's profit. In most countries around the world the profit margin for large supermarkets and department stores is around 3%, but here it has been rather sticky around the 9% mark for a number of reasons, including lack of competition.
