    Video Quick Facts... (1) this was filmed at the actual high school Joyner attended; (2) the teacher in the hallway that Joyner flips off (when he takes the cigarettes away from him) was actually Joyner's high school music teacher; (3) after doing this song/video, Joyner contacted Ross, invited & paid for Ross & his wife's trip to meet/visit with him; (4) Joyner wrote the song & created the unique 1st person perspective video...Busta Rhymes saw it & said he thought it was one of the most unique, creative & well thought-out songs/videos (in perspective story-telling) that he'd heard/seen since "Stan" (Eminem) & "I Gave You Power" (Nas). Super praise coming from a legend & the ultimate compliment for Joyner...whose idol is Eminem. 😃👍 I'm so glad Em put Joyner on Kamikaze & brought him to the attention of the industry's mainstream!! Because of this, Joyner is finally getting some of the attention & praise he has so desperately deserved for so long!!! This guy is LITTTT...pure 🔥🔥🔥🔥!!!

    This is honestly the best video in hip hop I’ve ever seen. The way it’s shot and the storytelling lyrics makes you really feel like you’re a part of it, not to mention it’s based on a true event too. I’m so glad Joyner is finally starting to get recognized and people are starting to appreciate just how talented he really is. Another great reaction coach. 👍

    I was a skinny white boy in middle school slangin nickle bags and ballin way harder than all the thugs. This brought envy, jealously and mad attention to my self. Lots of these "thugs" started trying to talk to me and "be my friend" all the sudden but I was never stupid. I knew the motive. Never been shot but I've been deceived, betrayed and back stabbed, had my jaw rocked and robbed a number of times. Shit is so real and I've always loved this from Lucas! Every time I have heard this song it makes my stomach turn. Way to many times in my life where I grew up in the 80's and 90's have I seen this exact scenario. Man there was a good stretch of time where the police only came to our neighborhood to pick up bodies or pull them out the river. Got to say I'm glad I got out of South Park Seattle when I did. Easily could have been me. Once again another great reaction bro.

    First, I love Joyner for his realist nature and talking about real issues, and this near-murder was a very divisive issue. Second, props again to NLS for recognizing the initial issue that allowed Ross to be singled out. As a poor kid growing up I was often singled out. I often had to wear the same outfit or clothes two or three times a week. In middle school I was "the smelly kid" because my clothes had to be reused and there wasn't always time to wash and dry them. It hurts on a deep level, that middle/high school bullshit. That same shit we would never, as adults, knowing the harm it can cause, point out. I overcame that with sheer force of personality and I remember proudly how when, the yearbook staff was announcing senior votes for x categories, I heard my name called as "most unforgettable". I cherish my picture with that popular girl who never knew my name, that is in all of our year's books. It sucks like a mf to be singled out like that. I couldn't imagine it in a place where you could become a mark. Joyner never disappoints.

    This is tough bro (I'm from Detroit as well and remember this), but let me let you know some things that were different in real life that weren't in the video. The dude that shot Ross was his friend for 10 years and I don't know why Joyner decided to change that up as it hits home even harder than just a random person. Ross also was not the new kid in school, he didn't get a 1993 Civic, he had a Jeep and at the end when they pulled up to the spot the dude did not pull Ross out of the car, they both got out and the dude went to get the gun that he had stashed then came back and did what you saw. Except, when he went to shoot him in the head (as you can see in video) he reaches out with his arm and pushes the barrel out of the way just in time and it did blow his top back, but only literally his scalp and he has a permanent scar from it, then he smashed his teeth in with the butt of the shotgun. The dude called the gang bangers and said he had shot Ross and they called the cops on him and were there to arrest him. Ross recovered over years and the documentary is even more moving. But Ross saw the Joyner video about him and actually contacted him and asked him if he had something to do with him getting jumped because he had a lot of information about what had happened. Joyner told him no he had just watched Ross' documentary and was moved and made the video. Then Joyner flew Ross out to Cali and took to him to the strip club for the first time and hung out with him for the weekend. Check out the documentary here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/kYyTstaDp7HbY7Q.html Much love and Respect Coach!

  • @JuanHughJorgan

    @JuanHughJorgan

    5 жыл бұрын

    @Doc Tones Everything but the Joyner stuff is in the interview with Ross (which I linked in the above comment). And yeah, they didn't believe that the guy actually killed Ross so they called the cops and SWAT showed up at his house and arrested him on the spot with Ross's Jeep. And the dude didn't stalk him for 10 years, they knew each other since they were like 5-6, so they were only 15-16 when this happened. It was only after they told him that he had to kill an innocent person to get into the gang that he chose Ross because he thought he would be an easy target. Ross contacted Joyner (I shouldn't have said called) because he was extremely paranoid after the shooting (for quite some time) and I'm pretty sure Joyner called him and talked to him about the situation. You can go here for the Joyner interview kzread.info/dash/bejne/g65nmtyOm5nQYtI.html and skip to 8:08-11:03. Hope that helped some and check out the vids, they are well worth it! :)

    Shaq I don’t know how I missed this reaction video. Probably because I didn’t find you until a couple years ago. But I love Joyner and his ability to tell stories through his rap songs and videos back then. It’s also nice to see you back in your beginnings with none the posters and the first bathroom ja rule died in. 3 years later your still that guy different house more success but still humble and still yourself .
