    Hat's off to you irrigation work is very time consuming I run a lawn business in Orlando and I pretty much sub all my irrigation work out unless it's basically changing a head out or I damage myself great video keep it up Ryan.

    sometimes its not worth the cost to rebuild everything from scratch to make it perfect. get it running even if its sort of ugly is good enough sometimes when people are on a budget. a lot of contractors dont seem to be able to offer that kind of service. good on ryan for charging this time and materials and doing the job quickly rather than wasting time. lots of time and materials contractors just run the clock and keep asking for more and more time

    I think a ribbon cable is pretty much standard just need to know how many wires you are needing then determine one of 3 common connectors out there

    Look into the Hunter valves and controllers. You can get a WiFi unit and monitor the water for them. Also it monitors the local weather and will pause watering or increase when needed.

    nice to see Variety . Maybe on the test side you could use a SMOKE test , cant see water under a brush pile but maybe smoke will work ( synthetic smoke of course )

    The optimum number of trips to the hardware store for any project, is 2. 1 for all the stuff you need, and the second for the stuff that turned up. Like a fine tune!

    Flip that roll off Teflon around and pull from the bottom of the roll. Then spin the roll around the threads.

    Ribbon cable and connectors are standard and inexpensive parts you can custom DIY assemble with a common vise.

    I believe sprinklers are about flow rate and not pressure. Obviously you need pressure but 50psi at 1/2 inch provides a different flow rate then 3/4 or 1 inch at 50psi

    Flow rate, gpm, static pressure, residual pressure, and meter size all are considered in the math for a proper zone. For someone new to irrigation, psi is one of the easier ways for someone to start learning. Always try and keep your residual pressure above 35 psi is a rule I go by. To little, and the sprinkler wont pop up hard enough to make a good seal.

    Ryan, this is probably too late but that is a standard computer ribbon cable most likely. It looks to be from an old ATA hard cable. Go to a mom and pop computer shop with that cable and pick a new one up.

    why not use a Rachio for the sprinkler controller? you can program them on the web app, a phone is only needed for the initial setup.

    I know it’s a mess of a system but you’re doing things backwards. Fix the valves first then figure out the leaks next, section by section. You need a valve finder/toner to figure out what wire goes to which valve. Good luck 👍🏼

What would be cool (not necessary) is to see the revenue of these projects, and what where the expenses. The business side of these little projects are super interesting. Maybe just generalizations would be cool too. If this would expose you in any way to your competition or whatever, don't do this, just more out of curiosity.
