And people disagreed with me when I said that new champions have become so inconsequential. Aside from Renata and maybe even Bel'Veth, none of them are even important enough to stand out on their own or do anything to the world of Runeterra. Doesn't help that VO has been cut so they all have the personality of a wall with their 10 mins of dialogue.

It’s always the same feeling for me, at the end of the year I think “damn this year went by so fast” and then I start thinking about the events at the beginning of the year and it feels like ages since those happened, I really thought those Riot update videos started in 2022 and Milio got released 2 years ago lol

Necrit, this year has been a big roller coaster for me, but your videos have been a highlight. During this year, I would put your videos on in the background while doing chores or cooking or even while working, and you've given me many laughs and many ways to forget about the real world and think about something I really like. I would legit get really happy whenever I saw you made a new upload, you're like an older cousin I can geek out with about League. Thanks for making a weird year (League or otherwise) enjoyable with your videos!!

Honestly lore skins would at least be a breath of fresh air compared to the stagnant, toxic smog that's become of all these reruns. Who the fuck is hyped for project's 6th run? Or another 14 spirit blossoms dropped at once with the most mid designs you can imagine.

@@sonicwave779 A ton more people than people who are excited about lore skins. Riot straight up said that lore skins don't really sell that well, which means they're not that popular. Why would I spend my money on a skin that basically just gives Kalista a different skin tone when I could instead get a skin where she's a robot or a fire demon or a street punk? 99% of players don't give a shit about the lore, so to them it's just a lame-ass skin that's barely different from the default. That's why lore skins don't sell well, which is why Riot only releases them when there's something else to be hyped about instead.

@@leetri They don't sell well cause the ones we have are super undercooked. You make a very unfair example. Kalista's problem is that she has very strange proportions for a human -- The SKT skin has long, broken looking fingers. if they took the time to tweak her model and animations (they've done that before, it's not unprecedented) to really sell the idea that she's a human; Give her some great original VFX, a pretty splash art, (maybe make a set of chromas too while your're at it) -- And you've got yourself a 10/10 skin that people will enjoy using and won't ditch it after a new skin comes out.

Necrit, I don't know if you'll read this, but I can't express how much I appreciate your videos. You're like my (almost) daily news reporter but for games and league in particular. Even if I barely play the game, I'll never stop watching your content. My top 3 KZread creators! And next year, I hope to visit Prague.

For Christmas I got the Ruination LoL book, It's a good read helping me get into reading not only nonspecific champion lore

He hasn't even talked about the esports side of league...holy crap was it on fire at the start of the season with the nami/lucian - Zeri/Lulu meta into the infamous statik shiv meta and thr funny LB shenanigans to JDG almosnt getting the golden road and T1 getting their 4th worlds title

Necrit really just forgot about Milo (kind of understandable) but more importantly SONG OF FREAKING NUNU, the best thing to come out of the league IP since Arcane.

I still remember the "biggest budget yet" bit

i hate the mythics system, but love some of the new items introduced with them, i hope we see some of those returning

As someone who played a shit ton of hollow knight and became obsessed with the lore, I would pay a good sum to hear necrit get deep into the lore of the game

Wild year for me too, my acc got hacked, I submitted a ticket and riot sent me a password reset on a wrong email that i don't have access to, and now they won't send me a password reset on the right one so i basically lost my acc. I was lvl 650

@@ziggs123 I admit that i did poorly in trying to protect my acc, but i never figured i'd be playing this game for over a decade. My cousin borrowed me the acc and later on he said "just keep it and play". Been playing ever since, never even thought about email addresses and passwords and stuff like that. So i just played and didn't worry about anything. So yeah definitely not blaming riot for my blunder but they didnext to nothing to help me out. Makes you wonder about the whole "our players come first" thing

Was Song Of Nunu that inconsequential? I noticed that out of all the Riot Forge games, he didn’t mention it

@@bloodne I have not finished it, but considering that I have a huge bias for the dorks (Nunu & Willump were my first jg main since I had fun w/ them in URF and loved their lore to the point that they got the Freljord to be come one of my favorite regions) it's likely gonna be my favorite Riot Forge game this year too! Ruined King is always gonna have a special place in my heart though as my favorite Riot Forge game (though it ain't from this year so it doesn't count)

I started playing at the beginning of the year, for around 2 months, quit and picked it back up in November and I am having a lot of fun, even though im stuck in bronze. Exited for the next season.

I can just imagine the pressure Riot workers have. The community is so critical about everything even we don't know what's really happening in the background. I'm sure they listen to the feedback but they have to prioritize what to do first and what things to focus cause they can't do everything at once

All things considered I think it's pretty cool that League didn't die this year. What with the source code leakage, scripter rampancy, scandals and more. Despite the absolute buttache of a blood pressure this game gave me, I still love it. I grew up playing it. It was there at my lowest and at my highs and unironically enough, it's been a constant. I hope S14 surprises us, here's to a new year to league and to everyone!

I wouldn't put any confidence in them. This was supposed to be the year of the highest budget and they...released one new game mode.

Oh god the 2023 cinematic feels like it was two months ago oh god what the fu-

it's weird they felt the need to emphasize focusing on "fun over competitiveness", as if that was a new development and not the modus operandi for the past roughly 3 to 5 years. The only exception to that was the loss of the event specific modes (i.e. darkstar thresh, starguardians, odyssey, project, etc.) there hasn't been a change to ranked matchmaking, lp gain/loss, balance patches in the past 5 years that hasn't benefited incoming players at the expense of competitive integrity xD And while it's tolerated in other regions then they can't seem to figure out why that was a huge contributing factor that made the for-fun-mentality NA region stop watching professional play.

I don't know which was better to watch the Battle from Nami and Syndra mains or the great Battle of Josh Lol

Naafiri crumbled in playrate over time though. Player ase practically forgot naafiri is even a thing nowadays in gameplay apart from the cinematic. Unironically Briar is one of the more popular champions even to this day.

Season 13 was my least played season since I started playing back in Season 5. Hopefully Season 14 will change that.

Hope they also work on reworking the client and the challenges, i love to grind unhuman amounts of games and see my challenges progressing meanwhile, but some challenges (Dream Team and best Friends for ever) are bugged, i cant even use my eternals series 1 from aurelion since a year because its bugged, loading times after a game are sometimes a minute, i hope riot works on a new improved client

I think a major reason why people (me included) dont care mich about newer champions or actively dislike them, is because they dont fit into the fantasy genre, like the characters dont seem like they could ever appear in an classical fantasy game

At the very least we can see the budget approved for 2023 materially improved the quality of the league product as a hole as the year went by and the projects being invested in were successful enough by their internal metrics to warrant further increases within specific teams. Meaning that 2024 and 2025 should continue this trend. Obviously this lull in 2022 and early 2023 should’ve never happened and The LoL team/Riot should’ve been more active in replacing veteran talent going to Valorant/TFT/MMO and leaving during the COVID shuffle. But things are back on track.

Honestly with arcane s2 coming out this year(cheer for the new year) I believe there will a big summer event following up with arcane s2 and even bigger change for 2025 as riot will now capitalise on arcane popularity to make better change(heck I believe they would put more fun if not unfair feature just for casual that will come from arcane s2)

This year was just rough for league despite having their "biggest budget ever" It's the first year since season 4 that I didn't even play a single ranked game. It's the year I played the least amount of league of legends, and it seemed like Riot just didn't care about league anymore. I'm cautiously hopeful for next season. I've been playing a bit more with Arena and ARAM recently. The removal of mythics is really nice tbh. Maybe I'm huffing copium. give me the void event pls riot

So, as someone completely casual with League, maybe I'm just out of the loop as to why this would be unlikely, but... (Fancy animatic rendered in unreal) --> (2025 will change League forever) I caught a hint of this at the first quote but it really hit me with the second; What if Riot's just transitioning League's graphics to an upgraded (probably, but not guaranteed Unreal) engine. I'd argue that will "Change League forever" and unreal runs relatively smoothly so most people shouldn't feel the change.

I uninstalled League almost 2 years ago, best decission ever. Just hope the mmo will be a good game

My guess is they are porting league to Unreal Engine. Maintain a code base so old as League with the revolving developers is very hard. That is why lots of bugs happened.
