He lost his dad to cancer when he was 12. One year later he found his mother dead at home, from a cardiac arrest. He mentions it in several songs, it is a big trauma for him. Also worth watching the live version of this song at the Lowlands or Pinkpop show. It utterly brave to share such big emotions on stage❤ And the support from the crowd it heartbreaking. His music is wonderful, true artist.

I saw a video of him doing this one live on stage. He was crying, the audience was crying. There was so much love going on, it was beautiful.

Every song from Joost Klein has a deeper meaning Life is still a struggle for him without his parents He is doing his best and want to make his parents proud in heaven But he is only human and sometimes things go wrong but he is trying so hard to do it good People all over the world love him just for who he is and give him a bit of the love he miss from his parents

The first part is indeed about his dad and the second part about his mother that died a year later. I think Florida 2009 is referencing a vacation to Florida he went to after losing his parents, with the previous line about an amusement park without fun being on that vacation (at Disney/Universal etc. in Florida).

he actually wrote these poems as a child after the passing of his dad and then the second verse a few months later when his mom passed too if i'm not mistaken. All I know is he wrote this about/for them
