    I don't usually like tutorial videos, but yours is one of the best I've seen. Your intro is nicely put together, your explanations are about the right amount, and I really appreciate the card closeups. Perfect length for a video at 40 minutes also. I've played this game several times and I've never had as good a start as you did on your first day! LOL Not surprising I have yet to win a game, although I did get much closer on my last play. Looking forward to the next installment.

    When adding a fitting, I believe you don’t have to place a character on the Place a New Fitting action space, you just place the character along with the fitting card on the space where the fitting is to be built and then do the build action there. I found this in the Unofficial FAQ online: You DO NOT need to reach the Construct New Fittings space. You place the character performing the action, the materials required for the fitting, and the fitting card (building requirements up) on the space where you want the fitting built. Then when you resolve the actions you discard the materials and turn the fitting over to its 'actions' side.

Usually because of their accents or slang. But then, to be honest, sometimes I have a hard time understanding Brits. Anyway, I agree with you. Hi Shaggi. I play the iOS version of this and was in 2 minds about buying the cardboard version. It looks so good and you did a brilliant playthrough. It’s more of an experience than a game. You did have a good first day. It’s a slippery slope though, very difficult to keep on top of. Looking forward to the next days.

  • @TotallyTabled

    @TotallyTabled

    Thanks so much Jason. I appreciate the compliment. This game is near the top of the list for thematic experience for me. But there is more game here than you might think. I've made strategic decisions on the first day that will have massive implications down the road, both positive and negative. Yes, there is randomness and luck, more than in most strategy games, but I like how it works in this game. Lots of pressing your luck, risk mitigation, anticipating problems and opportunities, etc. This is all "game" stuff even though it doesn't involve total control. But if someone says "too chaotic for me" I would understand. I hope you enjoy the future episodes. Lots of dramatic stuff to come.

    @@TotallyTabled Cheers Shaggi. I hope I didn’t come across wrong there. I absolutely love the iOS version and the board game is certainly as immersive. Where I was saying it was more of an experience than a game was more down to the feeling I get playing it. It’s real, and unfortunately for so many people today it’s their current reality. Your play through there has shown me all I need in that it stays very true to the digital version as it was my fear that the experience would get diluted somehow. And since my last comment I’ve been checking out online prices for it. It is right up my street. Cheers man!

But this part 1 alone as a boardgame was so impressive. So many decisions to make, wonderful board and components. Nicely done playthrough! I would like to add on some tips to make the starting day better: - Following advanced rules hidden in Script 351, Food token can be consumed any time aside from Combat and script resolution. Henceforth, you can start the game with 9 actions on Day 1 by feeding all characters immediately. - Furthermore, afterwards, you can have up to 12 actions by taking 2 Fatigue to all the 3 characters to get the fourth action for each character (Script 155). It will be a huge boost to the start of your game with many actions.

    I don't personally feel that way. I find the two experiences quite different. This War of Mine is much more story forward and less streamlined than Robinson Crusoe. Thanks for watching!

    Thanks, but then nobody would need my videos! Just kidding. Writing rulebooks sounds so difficult to me. I'm not sure I would be very good at it. But I appreciate you checking out my videos!
