Hi, WHAT! 100k! Looking like a fake 4x4 show van to me. 🙄I have been driving vans for work for 40 years and had two new VW vans, a 888 T4 5 cylinder special chipped, 110bhp, 03 that had leaking gearbox and three clutches under warranty and had the first 180 that was very unreliable and sold the last one a 2010 180bhp @ 18k miles back to main dealer. It had a new EGR cooler under warranty that would have cost 2k they said. The next owner called me and said that they had spent 8k on repairs and had the van really done 18k when I sold it. I would never go back to VW now especially with the Ford wet belt failed engines. Better off towing a caravan with the X5 or a 20k Hymer A class for a family holiday. The bubble will burst soon. EV's will be a total failure too.

I actually looked at a new VW Transporter as a replacement for our new family mover along with some other makes and models but ultimately settled on a new Citroën Spacetourer. I found the Spacetourer to be more comfortable, economical, and far more spacious than it's German competitors. It's 200 hp engine is powerful yet refined and is exceptionally economical delivering a whopping 40mpg! It's infotainment is very good and responsive as is it's 8 speed automatic gearbox. On a run the massaging comfort seats are an absolute blessing. All in all I found the Citroën Spacetourer to out class it's more expensive German rivals by a big margin!!!

Yeah, no way that van would be worth £100k to me. And I own a T6.1 VW Caravelle. I bought it new just out of the first lockdown before prices went mental. And so was probably around half the cost of this. The interior is much nicer (the door cards etc are nicer material for a start), and have the virtual cockpit and the better head unit. Also 7 seats, all half leather. And the rear bench does fold down into a bed, while keeping 3 ISOFIX points (as well as on the other 2 rear seats, so 5 ISOFIX points in the back). After almost 4 years, we have used it as a daily driver family car, with 7 seats, over around 40,000 miles. Still on standard wheels and suspension. With the 199 BHP dual turbo diesel too. I struggle to get 40 mpg, even on a run. Around 30-32 mpg is probably about right to be fair. But hey, if I wanted something cheap to run, I'd take my 1.5 TDI Focus. Hoenstly, looking at the van in your video, I don't see where the money is. I honestly believe my Caravelle will feel a lot nicer inside. Far more car like. I have driven a few Kombi's, I guess what this is based on, and they just don;t feel as nice inside. I get why people wouldn;t pick a Caravelle as their base for such conversions, but I don't think I couldn't now having been in both. You are correct about depreciation, to some degree. I very much doubt I'll have lost too much money in the last 4 years on mine. Maybe around £10k tops. Which is incredible. But my guess is that is more to do with the obscene price gouging around lockdown times than pure depreciation. None the less, I have no intention of selling it. It is the perfect family car. And once it's paid off, I can get something a bit nicer for fun.

Hi Stewart the van belongs to me ,I had never had a transporter before coming from a new m sport transit crew cab, unfortunately all it did was break down , I had intended on getting a GT4 as a toy but my wife really wanted a volkswagan camper van . We went to to look at factory vans but wasn't much impressed with them . We wanted to sell have a vehicle that could carry 5 people when needed, but also double up as a full size estate car when needed, so a fixed interior wouldn't work for me . Original We was going to have a lowered van on 20s both later discounted this on the state of our roads have damaged two my my pervious bmw m3 wheels to pot holes . Original We was ordering a 4 motion but due to time constraints at the factory this wasn't an option. And then 2 weeks before our van was due in from volkswagan our order was cancelled because of the war in Ukraine. So I had the option of a cancellation order ,this van a van in the same colour, dsg t32 factory kombi but with an additional 7 k worth of options. I was then still able to keep my build slot with Van Haven. The van has been fully sound deadened and insulated throughout the cab and the rear ,it has a 7 day programmable diesel heater, off grid electrics with leisure battery and c tec spilt charging system, full length bonded solar panel. The van also features soft closing doors and tailgate factory side windows, 3 removable rear seats .a built in inverter, 12 usb ports 6 12volt ports ,auto park ,discover media. Upgraded alpine door speakers and tweeters, rear kick roof mounted speakers and 2 big kicker sub woofers in the rear . The interior seats are golf GTI frames with bespoke foam and bespoke leather with Bentley quilted leather and blue piping and grey Cross stitch. The headlining is full alcantar as is the A and B pillars. We have additional lighting in the rear with additional lighting in the cab area. We have swivel front seats .limo tinted rear windows and neoprene black out curtains in the rear . A drop down tv dvd player that is also linked to the vans head unit. And the dash has been colour coded to match the exterior . On the outside we have a full array of Lazer lights in the grill and on the roof ,a colour coded front lip spoiler .fuel colvert alloy wheels with Bf goodridge k02s. Bilsten b6 comfort suspension with eibach 35mm lift kit. Side bars ,roof rails ,gti wheel arch extensions. A fully working bravo snorkel kit . A bespoke graphic design that is unique and also reflective. We have two sets of RVL roof lights . Plus a heavy duty tow bar fitted to the van . Triple air horns and an additional American 4 horn rail road set up on the van . We have a remo rail on the passenger side of the van and a fiamma 45s awning on the drivers side of the van . Since getting this van we have fully embraced the volkswagan life style, we go to as many festivals as we can ,we go away 3 weekends out of every month with this van .we now spend more time as a family doing stuff with this van .we have travelled all over Europe, we have done the North coast 500 twice. Had a weekend at John o'groats just because we could and the van has been to Ireland twice this year and as mentioned in the video the van has been to Germany twice ,it wasn't even 6 weeks old before it went out on the nurburgring. I wanted a van that would put a small on my face and this van does that in spades .yes I could have bought a stock van but where's the fun in that . I didn't finance my van I paid for it in full so I can do what I wanted to it . I had a sierra cosworth estate F20YBT that I built previously. That was an outrageously fast car but living in the u.k having over 450 bhp is a waste and the the 204 in the van is ample enough. If I had my time again the only thing I would change would be I would have held out for the 4 motion. But apart from that, I wouldn't change a thing . This has been hands down the best vehicle we have ever bought. It's given us family time and you can't put a price on that 🤟

@@shanewaller2864 I wasn't trying to pee on your chips. Just giving my experience with the difference on interior quality between the Kombi and a Caravelle. The Caravelle interior isn't fixed. All the seats are on rails, and can be slid around, or removed completely, which helps. Sounds like you have done a lot of useful mods, and that is great. I do still enjoy seeing what people do to these vans. But can't help but think that the prices have / did go crazy. Even today on the second hand market, the prices people are asking for some of these vans. I think I would still start with a Caravelle though, just for the interior quality. I agree, our Caravelle is also the best vehicle we have ever bought. And we are unlikely to sell soon. Although it is in for service just now, and apparently needs rear discs and pads, and has a broken spring, so VW want over a grand obviously. Time for fancier suspension I think.

This was my 1st ever volkswagan and my 1st ever transporter. I didn't really know what wanted, but by the time I had put the tyres and suspension on the seed was sowed it was swamper all the way ,we go to Scotland quite a bit and on a couple of occasions we have come across sections of flooded roads and had to turn back ,but now with the snorkel we had just ploughed through. The interior of the van is going back in in September for a full make over .with a few tasteful modifications. It should be a real head Turner. .we built this van to do as many miles as possible. We have had more holidays with this van in two years than we possibly have in the 10 or more .I know its not to everyone's taste and the thumb nail hasn't helped me ,but it's still a cool van and we love it to bits 🤟👍❤️

Hi Chris the van in question is my van ,i bought it brand new from Van Haven as they are a volkswagan dealer. My original van was cancelled by volkswagan at the last minute because of the Ukraine war and because of that I bought a cancellation order. A brand new t6.1 high line dsg Lwb factory kombi t32 204 .that van cost me an additional 7 grand .I then had them do most of the conversion work you see ,that took the van up to just sort of 80 k .in the two years I've owned the van I've spent and additional 20 k on the van . Now every thing I have spent on this van has been plus Vat remember that .how ever I'm not Vat registered. I'm not extremely wealthy but I have worked hard and saved like crazy to buy this van . As for only going to Devon and Cornwall possibly 1 or twice a year in it .we have had more holidays in this van than we have had in 10 possibly 15 years .we are away most weekends, we go to as many festivals as possible and have travelled all over Europe in our van. Also doing the North coast 500 twice .this year the van.will have been to Ireland twice aswell. By the end of the year the van.will be North of 30,000 miles . And Monday to Friday the van doesn't turn a wheel .but come the weekend's and holidays blue Peter is on the road . When Ben asked if any one had a van haven van to review I jumped at the chance. Never thinking it would receive such negative comments. I built this van for my family and I to enjoy that that's what it does . I will keep this van for as long as the government allows me and until that day comes we will be out enjoying the freedom it has granted us .

@@shanewaller2864 don’t stress I’m not getting at you as an individual! It’s just a lot of money to spend on a van that in honesty you could have built yourself for less than half the price using an older van. Please understand where I coming from as someone who lives in Devon the majority of people who can afford a vehicle like this do so to pretend to themselves that they’re surfers with a bohemian lifestyle which on most cases is far from the truth. For them it’s about appearances, and to spend what is essentially a third of a home where I live on a van just to appear a certain way to others seems ridiculous to me and many others. At least you use yours regularly and with you family throughout the year rather than just a few weeks in the summer. Don’t take it to heart it’s just a lot of money.

In the meantime you’ve missed out on 3 years worth of memories! And your kids have grown up! They don’t wait 😅 I hear what you’re saying but so many put off to some day and it never comes 🥲

What you have there is £100k's worth of misery. Travel the would in luxury using the money or sit in a field in the pissing down rain in a van. Or buy a really nice sports car (911 for me) and stay in nice hotels. 😂😂🙈

My biggest grievance with these vans is the lack of belted seats, I need 5 belted seats, I can get by with 2 double beds as the kids are small but I need the seating. I bought a converted mini bus for £2k , 5 belted seats, sleeps 5, has kitchen, 72k miles. Bargain.

£100k is a complete and utter joke. How can normal folk, with normal jobs afford £100k for a van? The scene tax is out of hand, anyone daft enough to pay for it deserves everything they get. Good luck with the new ‘wet belt’ T7/ Ford abomination, you’ll be forming an expensive and protracted relationship with your local friendly VW mechanic who will relieve you to thousands of pounds for fix the terminally flawed engine design.

Not worth 100k could get a bigger truck built into a camper for that money and still have money left over

Overrated and overpriced! A van is a van! But a lot of vans/campervans are heading into that bracket
