This VND Kit Is Just Better… | Nisi Swift VND Mist Kit

Фильм және анимация

I've been wanting to invest in a quick change kit like this for a while and when NISI reached out to see if I could review the Swift VND Mist Filter kit, I immediately agreed because I was confident in Nisi's Products and knew they would knock this one out of the park... and I was right! One of the best Variable ND Filters I've ever used.

Is the NISI black mist filter threaded in the front side? So I can attach other filters to it with standard thread?

Really informative video! Just curious, you mentioned being able to use the 1/8th mist filter, but online they only offer a 1/4 with the swift kit, are you just using their normal 1/8th or is there a way to get a 1/8th that's compatible with just putting on pulling off with this system?

You can get 1/8th swift separately! It’s linked in the description 💪🏼

I wish I could put 1-5 base on to lens via adaptor ring = put adaptor ring on every lens, and you have fast switch between lenses, unfortunately bas have a thread

Is it possible to mount the pro mist/black mist filter on the swift ring without necessarily having to also mount the VND?

I'll explain. By purchasing the Swift system, can I also use its parts individually? for example, what if I wanted to use the black mist alone, or do I have to mount everything on the VND?

I tried the NiSi VND Mist Kit and returned it for two reasons: 1) I experienced HEAVY vignetting when stacking two or even three of these filters on top of each other with the Lumix S5ii and the Sigma 28-70 at 28mm in 6k Open Gate (and even in 4k 16:9). Theses filter frames are quite thick. With the Sigma 16-28 this filter set was unusable to me due to vignetting. 2) If you want to shoot at night time only with the Mist filter on you have to unscrew the VND base and screw on the Swift base to then attach the Mist filter on top. This kinda annoyed me. Hope this helps others to decide. I ended up buying the Haida VND+CPL 2in1.

95mm might be a good idea. No vignetting with the mist + haida, maybe a little on 16mm FF. However haida gives me x / cross when all the way turned, doesn’t really change when turning the outer part. Will do a video soon

If you want something bulkier and not as quick, yeah it does, Kindof. The VND is not as high quality and the mist options on that mattebox are not tasteful imo. I own it and have all the filters for it. VND, mist, hard stop NDs

Yeah.. I wouldn’t be thinking about this filter kit if I was using bigger cine lenses that have 95 OD and no filter rings. In that specific case the mirage makes more sense. Also flagging off some flares is nice 👍🏼

I own two polar pro products and honestly I wouldn’t recommend anyone investing in their products. They discontinue a lot of their stuff and it makes buying accessories for their products harder

I don't get why nd filters cost so much, straight pieces of glass costing as much as lenses with motors and aperture mechanisms and multiple curved elements. I don't think comparing the price to polarr pro is a good comparison either considering that's an example of influencer marketing.

As much as cheap lenses… not lenses in general. If you want to buy cheaper glass to put in front of your lenses, go for it 🤷🏽‍♂️ I also compared the filters to the freewell filters which are the best budget filter options out there.

@@AnthonyRodriguezz Average filter sponsored response. bro you know the profit margins on nd filters are way higher than lenses, there's no shame in admitting we buy some overpriced things lol. Straight glass like the glass used in filters is *mass produced* unlike actual lens elements. You'd be lying if you said it made sense that a polarrpro VND twin pack costs as much as half a sigma art lens lol. (Not that we have a say in the matter cause we need them anyway)

@definingslawek4731 idk the profit margins on almost anything I buy nor do I care too much because it’s for work not for a hobby. If it works, great. If it works almost flawlessly and saved me even more time in post rather than just on set, it’s worth it to me. Time saved is worth more than just profit margins on a product 😂
