Probably because unless you’re an amputee (and nowadays they can use prosthetics), you’ll always be shopping for a pair of shoes because you need two. BOGO implies that you’re allowed to leave one if you don’t want it. And depending on how they’re priced, you’ll likely always take the second. Actually the money amount listed in the title is correct regardless of the view ratio because youtube takes a huge chunk so technically the money in the title that auto updates is the most accurate before youtube's chunk taken out.

This is the first time that I saw someone explain in detail how it works and I don't see a single misconception or wrong statement in it. I've checked out how this works a lot of times (in general through informing but also doing them to see how it exactly works, to understand how KZread places ads) and it's honestly frustrating when some people talk about how it's done and it's utterly wrong or just looks at one part of the entire picture. Edit: I may have skipped this part, but I think it would have been good to mention (UNLESS YOU MENTIONED IT, SORRY THEN) that KZreadrs decide on ad slots, which are just a chance for ads to appear, and that 8 minute videos (back then I think it was 10) allow midrolls (without them no ad slots can be set). The general concept for 8+ minute videos is that the revenue will be around $1-6, but this highly depends on the final length of the video, demographic and category it belongs to (though category also has to do mostly with demographic, since an e.g. gaming KZreadr can upload a finance video, which usually sees way higher revenue, but see 0 change in revenue due to the same audience watching it).

If you wondering how did the GCP title change automatically There is a code in Google Script that you can modify so you can do your calculations and set it on your KZread video title and then It change automatically the things he set in the code, It’s a very simple thing to do There is a bunch of a tutorials about how to make it:)

I feel like the real question is why any of the robots think I want to see the SAME AD three times in a row. It's not getting more appealing, guys. Repetition is fine, if I forget or don't know what it was for, but spread out. The same ad three times out of ten or twenty is fine. But three times in a row I'm just annoyed. And also bored. As a more boring comment on The Bot Society's neatly sardonic post, it's probably a good thing that it's like this. Avoiding it would probably require the bots to keep more information about what we watch than we should be entirely comfortable with. The ideal solution would probably be the KZread bots factoring in which ads you've seen into the auction - "You've advertised to AnnikaO 3 times now: you're not winning again unless you offer a grand." - or more likely, passing that info to the advertiser bots - "We've advertised to AnnikaO three times now so we expect a skip and won't bother in the auction." Any bots that actually run on such a system would almost certainly just move to the situation where they just stockpile that info and sell it for more than the ads would be worth, to all our detriment. Let's hope that the reason repeats like this happen is that KZread's got a blanket ban on keeping that sort of info.

Actually, it is not about forgetting the ad. Generally, the more you see anything really, the more easily your brains process the information meaning that it sounds more appealing or more true. This is called the mere-exposure effect or the familiarity principe: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mere-exposure_effect. It is an unconscious process.

Well, minute earth once used a smiliar trick to visualize the amount of energy watching the video in question has consumed, which also features a conversion into more "understandable" units, like household-days of electricity. So, I assume they use a bot, meaning such a thing exists. And given what we know about Grey from the podcasts, bot seems like a likely answer.

Counterpoint, the people who watch your ad are far more likely to be interested in your product, so if you have a very niche product that's hard to calculate the demographic for, skipable ads mean you aren't paying for the people who won't buy your stuff anyways

Well, there could be other explanations than a doppelganger kidnapping our favorite KZreadr. For example, perhaps CGP Grey spent a few months inside a room that's accelerated compared to the outside, so for us it's been a week but for him it's been seven months.
