I feel like some of these would be really cool if you play them backwards... especially the shoe one near the end. like the shoes would morph out of that weird shoeblob. Also, for the product shots, putting the original product back into the video with all the bizarro stuff going on behind it could be really cool.

You're bang on that it's 5 to 10 years away from producing consistently good results, I found this out just when trying to generate a still for an advert with loads of different AI websites - nothing was quite right despite about 50 attempts, no matter the level of specificity I typed.

It looks like a great potential for generating themed surreal background plates. The idea of the videos being run in reverse to reveal the product shot might also be useful.

A.I is just changing everything so damn fast. There's a lot of interesting stuff coming out all the time. Can't wait to see what all tools we get in the coming years

I've been using Runway for a good while now, the AI generation is very unpredictable but fun to play with. The editor side of things are very good, especially the masking/background removal the best I've ever used hands down beats anything Prem Pro or Davinci can do.

A strange blend of curiosity and fear that is somehow hillarious 😅

I respect that AI is being put together to TRY and create things like these. It’s not quite there yet. Nothing will beat the creative, hardworking editors that actually put in the time and effort to come up with amazing visuals tho.

This is how nightmares are made. I can see where they want this to go, but looks like we have a long way to go.

I think it's a great idea and a good basic approach, but it's far away from being useful in practice. There is a chance you can get some great result or create some interesting pictures or joying with static photos, but currently it's not practical for professional uses, like promotions, adverts. Maybe in 1-2 years when the AI got fed with more test data, maybe it gets constant, decent results.

And this is why humans cannot be replaced.

AI shouldn't be used for taking away our artistic choices. It should only help us work faster. Things like rotoscoping or tracking objects. Create missing frames for slow mo. Or weired looking backgrounds when needed. Or help enhance lighting and stuff like that. But it should not take the decision away from the position of the shots and or the speed at which the camera is moving. I so hate AI. It is unoriginal, typical and to be honest it is wiered as fuck.

That was highly entertaining. I mean, disturbing in a way....but entertaining anyway. I think it could be fun if you took something surreal, to begin with. Say Salvador Dali kinda images (you can generate that via a different ai-tool). And I guess all that nonsense warping then turns into something where you don't go "wtf..." i mean..you still would be maybe in a positive way where this was in line with your expectations to begin with.

It has a long way to go. Midjourney also started out wonkey but looks great now most of the time. But thats the problem, Midjourney also still makes mistakes with stills. And video is 24/25/30 stills each second. So for the video to be perfect it needs 100 stills without mistakes to create a 4 second video.

Oh Daniel, don't be so naive, 10 years? Runway Gen 1 was created barely 6 months ago, and Gen 2 was released 2 months ago. By this time next year we'll be at Gen 5 at least. By then it will be able to make 3 to 5 minute realistic videos with 3 words. You should check the comparison between the two generations that are only 4 months apart. My advice, stay tuned to this, you may need to use it eventually if you to keep up with the market. I use AI tools to help me create cool designs for my clothing brand and it's very useful to save some time.
