    Low stomach acid??? But what about a hiatal hernia? I got this from coughing due to covid19. I have to take prilosec daily now because my doctors refuse to operate on my "small" hernia (But the indigestion is not small!!!) I now have osteopenia despite being physically active (daily hiking, walking, lots of sunshine, swimming) and eating an organic healthy diet. I've been taking calcium hydroxy apatite with k2 and magnesium. Yes, arteriosclerosis is also a concern which resulted from covid19. My doctors have offered no solution. 😢 @dr. Anil rajani

    @@realmarsattacksagain I have nothing to do with this channel but do sympathize with your issue because of how bad I also believe PPIs are and how I know you must be very uncomfortable. I hope it's not causing you too much trouble eating. Acid and minerals go hand in hand. It's a chemistry thing. When combined, acid and mineral ions (minerals in the body have to be taken in as ions which is why acid is needed to break them down) work toward chemical equilibrium together. This is why minerals are alkalinizing and acidity is there to break down minerals. They are a like a positive and a negative looking for a zero sum. If the acid does not get the minerals in digestion, acid produced in the body will take it from the bones because of how important minerals are to blood stability. This is why the answer to acidity cannot be something that further blocks mineral absorption. The answer to acidity is minerals themselves!! The solution that alkalinizes acidity in the body, chemically, is minerals. This is why things like pesto bismol are ionic substances. It's just an ion that humans don't need to supplement (Bismuth subsalicylate) This covid stuff threw some serious things in my direction and without getting into too much about whatever nightmares are going on in my own internal organs, all I can say is that cold fresh cantaloupe is a very small snack that is not a meal commitment if I am suffering with too much stress-nausea too eat. It is something I can handle even with nausea and it has a fair amount of minerals that are rapidly assimilated along with some hydration. Because it is fruit it is associated with additional acid but while it's slightly acidic, it is known to be alkalinizing in the stomach and the reason? Minerals! I've been trying to keep cut cantaloupe on hand because it has been helping me get back on track with my own ordeal. If I eat just a piece I start to feel relief and found that very strange when I first noticed. I am really sorry you are having a tough time. This has been rough on so many. Take care.

    Correct, I was prescribed a calcium supplement and within short time developed a pain in in my lower legs/ veins. Then I tried a more natural supplest and developed a high blood pressure, really high. The doctors were quick to prescribe a high blood medication, but I did not take. I retraced all my supplement and when I stopped taking calcium my high blood pressure went back to normal. I do not understand how doctors in Montreal. Canada do not know that calcium can cause harm. Thank you Doctor !

    Before you supplement with D3/K2, it's important to test your D3 level to know how much to supplement with. My initial vitamin D3 result was 32 ng/mL (Optimal Range: 60-80 ng/mL). I learned from a Vitamin D Wellness forum to supplement with 10,000 IU D3 (with co-factors) at first. Once my levels got to 50 ng/mL or so, I reduced that to 5,000 IU/day with co-factors. Now that I'm at 78 ng/mL, my maintenance dose is 3,000 IU D3 + co-factors. Test. Don't Guess!

    My doctor told me he had only tested a FEW people who weren’t deficient in vitamin D, me being one of them. My niece, though, was supplementing and she spends a lot of time outside. She started feeling absolutely horrible. Went to her doctor and her D levels were through the roof.

    I getting to believe that people are different when absorbing D3, I don't supplement and need to get more sun I recently had my D3 checked because no sunlight and it was at 112ng/ml and now they say it is too high. I'm not believing them as I feel fantastic but I still need sun and if it goes up more I'm not buying the scare tactic of these so called doctors!

  • @dmdr11

    @dmdr11

    @@mrnt1257 You also have to be careful about what doctors say is "normal" (and that goes for *any* testing). Within range is not good enough. A person has to be at the high end of the D3 range to be optimal. That is around 80 ng/mL (in the U.S.) If you google the ranges, you'll see as low as 20ng/mL is listed as adequate! IT IS NOT. I felt HORRIBLE at 32ng/mL and only because I learned the truth and what to do about it was I able to raise my D3 level and have a major change in how I felt.

  • @dmdr11

    @L S I do not see your question here about co-factors. Vitamin D3 co-factors are the vitamins/minerals you must take along with vitamin D3 in order for the D3 to be used properly in the body. D3 needs vitamin K2 and magnesium to work. Also vitamin A in the form of cod liver oil is good to help D3 work. You can google "Vitamin D3 co-factors".

    It's so good to see you not only focus on outward appearances such as cosmetic treatments and skin care but also our inner health such as our diet and supplementation. You are really holistic doctor taking care of women's health. My dentist recommended me to take calcium of which I did for several months. But I found out about this calcification in arteries that may happen and I started taking K2 with the calcium. But in the end I decided I will abandon calcium supplementation altogether just in case. I also had a cardiac calcium score done and thankfully it is zero. I just make sure I get my calcium from my diet such as bean curd, soy, tofu, almond milk and low fat milk...

    Great video! ❤ My mom is mid 70s, and said to have osteoporosis (Dexa scans are actually not accurate-I advise everyone to research it), and she took a _very_ bad fall to her hip and didn’t even get a fracture. She eats _real_ food, she does a little exercise, and she uses a whole body vibration machine about 10 minutes a day, which is known to increase bone density. *Note: While jumping on solid ground can also build bone, it can also quickly cause joint damage, _especially_ if you’re older. If you prefer jumping, please get a quality (not cheap) rebounder (mini trampoline) with a _soft_ bounce. *Note: WBV machines need to be a high frequency of 30Hz and a low intensity vibration.

    This is a great video. I personally don’t supplement on calcium, but I’ve been taking D3 + K2 for years, specially because I don’t take much sun . Now as someone who would just start supplementing on whatever is told we should supplement I’m glad I watched this video before starting taking it calcium. It’s been a while since I’ve been hearing people mentioning Natto and it could be nice to try it out. Is it hard to get in the USA? Btw, such a beautiful shirt you’re wearing, Dr, Rajani.

    @Dr. Rajani are there any caveats as it contains iodine? So, for example, if someone has an allergy to topical iodine, would they be allergic to ingesting it? Or not? I don’t have that issue, but I just wondered on behalf of others. I’ve been taking D3 and a D3 K1/K2 combo. Four weeks ago I had a mildly displaced fracture on an x-ray that per a CT scan two weeks ago may already be healed. I find out more from the hand surgeon tomorrow. Also, I read that it may not be advisable to take it longer than two or three years. Is this true? Should a person go off of it for a period of time and if so, for how long before they resume. Thank you so much.

    Great video! I relate to all. At 66 had a hip replaced. The only area I show osteopenia is my other hip. :( As an L&D nurse for many years we ran all day sometimes. Would love to hear what the constant running on your feet does. I also feel my sugar intake is and was the problem. I am working on that! It's so hard! Going to the store now to make our favorite meal, broccoli (Maybe cauliflower), potatoes, some corn on the cob pieces, mushrooms, fresh string beans, and carrots with olive oil, Spike and Cheddar on top. We steam it all. (Husband is a veggie so I make all meals without meat.) And, my doc told me to take a calcium supplement. Glad I did not. The freakin pill was way too big. With a stress test of Normal Sinus Rhythm, no signs of cardiac disease but signs of left block I must be careful. I asked if we could just put the stent in now. He laughed, saying Insurance wouldn't because I recover quickly. Sure doesn't feel like it somedays. Heart disease is in my family too.

    I am surprised to her that you had a hip replaced and the other is osteopenic 😕😥. If you are on your feet a great deal, you should have good bone mass. I understand that walking, jogging and jumping are all good to build and maintain bone density. Some of this people who promote this idea even talk about wearing weighted vest and not to cushion our shoes too much to get the maximum result. I find not cushioning our shoes a really tough thing to do especially as we age, our feet become less fleshy. Our feet lose volume as well!

  • @lynnees9828

    @lynnees9828

    @@Dandelion_flight I agree. I have a friend who at 67 competes in triathlons. Wins often in her age grp. She said, as I asked about her knees at one time, that she believes the stress helps in break down and rebuilding. I think being I never had a wide stance, or large hips could be a problem. Body type plays a role, IMO. My mother when alive would tell me my hips were not built for my weight. I've never been fat, per say, but gained a lot in pregnancies and it couldn't hurt to lose a few. Maybe it's the way we moved in nursing. (Sit Up, down, run here, back again.) And the am doughnuts did not help. High sugar intake causes inflammation. Plus I'd forget to drink lots of H2O.
