This is the slowest vehicle I've ever driven. Okay, I'll admit I could've held onto 4th gear a few breaths longer, but we're missing the point either way. This Hijet "Super Jumbo" is an epic Kei truck built for STYLE. Oh, and practicality and efficiency too of course. Enjoy.

Nice super Jumbo! Three months after I bought it, the ship just dropped my 1996 4WD Hijet in the US and I'm finalizing plans to pick it up in a couple of days (20 hour round trip with a flatbed trailer). I'm looking forward to doing some mods to make her mine.

Used to think I'd end up buying a Kei truck first, because I think they're weird and awesome etc. However, with all the Kei scapegoating in the US, and my current need for something to haul other vehicles, think I'll settle for a used Isuzu NPR rollback and go the dekotora route with it instead ~

I'm curious of tire size? Was hoping he would say what he runs. I'm thinking of putting 14's on mine. Only 14 I can find are 14x7 and I think I need thinner wheels. Mine are 13x4 right now. I have a Daihatsu Atrai (micro van). Fundding tires for 13's that aren't trailer tiers is about impossible. I have mud terrains on it that looks really cool.

12:34 this is the funniest thing about the video for me " so that's 4WD.." that button is the funkiest thing! I wish you had showed it and the dash close-ups...IMO, the only thing that beats that button is : a dash organ push/pull choke lever! ( Mazda Porter truck circa 1980...)

Most newer kei trucks do 0-60 in around the same time as a cheap economy car from maybe let's say mid 2000s which is okay. These older ones maybe... 0-60 in never to maybe 30 seconds depending on the kei truck you have. Their low speed accelerations are fine for city use or dirt use though, which is where you should use them more.... Doing highway with kei cars in general especially older ones with lower power is like asking a wide thick supercar to fit into a tiny cramped old garage that maybe can only fit two bikes because your neighbor can fit his narrow small Smart in it. You can fit your supercar in.... Very very barely.

The Daihatsu is made by Toyota. Engines are 3 cyl. Side draft 48hp. They are indestructible long lasting Kei trucks. Once you have one you'll love it.

double cab is essential for reclining...if you drive for more than a few hours...i don't care how tall or small you are. These SuperJumbos are exceedingly rare for sure! There is ONE right now for 4 grand ( CAD ) ouch! These mini-trucks need a roll bar installed behind the seats and the back removed ( so you can recline....)
