This UI Library Keeps Crushing It
Ғылым және технология
I have a lot of respect for the work behind this library. Choosing to open source this feature is not only helpful for an entire community of devs, but it also allows the project to move forward much faster because of community contributions. Love it.

@@zapfska7390No lol theyre joking, yes you can use this out of the box but bootstrap is just styles with no functionality, this is functionality thats fully customizable if you know what youre doing. Of course you can take the prestyled stuff, but its meant to give you best in class conponents for things like dropdowns, context menus and other things you might come across. Happy coding!

Only if you let it. That's the beauty of Shadcn. You totally can customize it because you have all the code. Not even close to calling it a bootstrap. More like a Startingstrap. 😊

Man u throw that mic like a gangsta ;)
I tried out the new blocks. Some of these dashboard designs are almost exactly what I plan to create for my next project, just need to change a few things! Incredible! I hope they go on to make the biggest ready made UI block library available out there! Even bigger than the paid UI collection by Tailwind or Flowbite!
I like your hoodie 😊
Hey Josh, can you tell me if I should I switch to prisma for MongoDB or keep using mongoose? Prisma seems much more popular than mongoose...
flowbite is opensource and it uses tailwind

Have you heard of the dune mmo?
My only gripe with that library is that it should've been named chadcn/ui.
Do you think this will evolve into a paid version in the future?

Hey Josh web development (next js ) mobile app (React Native) which is best and go with?
Shadcn is not the new bootstrap. If all your websites look the same, you might be using it incorrectly.
Can someone please open source kiwi fruit hoodies
But it's not compatible with Angular
I tried shadcn turn out it has barely anything of the features needed. I needed a phone mask on a input.... had to find my self how to do that and the code of shadcn make it harder. Same I needed a Google places auto complete ones again shadcn got in my way...
Good, but I prefer Next UI or primereact kk
Finally he changed his clothes😂😅
First Shadcn isn't built by a single person, its built by the whole freakin organisation called vercel cause they are using it in their own website. Second, its nothing as compared to Ant 🐜 design. which is a giant production ready component library.

Vercel recently hired the owner of shadcn ui and yes it is made by huge no. of contributors from the GitHub community that's why it'll be always ahead of any centralised ui component library
Can't be used for dynamic white labeling. hard pass.
I think people fall in love with this type of libraries just because most programmers are pretty much anti-anything that has to deal with art and creativity. They'd rather copy and paste someone else's code than go and try to style a basic form, they want nothing to do with graphic design, much less with css and responsiveness.
you look so yummy. my fav fruits
Hi josh, please can you make a video how to make responsive header using tailwindcss Please guys like this comment so josh can see it

Guess you don't get what Shadcn is. Just a quick start. You get all the code and can alter it as you want. Even added some additional functionality to some of the components. 😊

@@af4043 last time I used it, it was the only ui with a text input without an error prop which would change few a11y things. I have tried 100 other libs and this was the only 1 that didn't have an error prop. No sidebar component in 2024. Tailwind makes it crap by default too, vite needs to optimize those dependencies at first. Using it with docker compose sync watch feature makes it useless in the first 10 or 15 seconds because of that. They are selling you this point that it's not a library because you don't install it but it's just a lazy excuse to write non flexible components, but hey they can always tell you that it is easy to change because you have them in your folder haha. It's overrated, in react there are dozens of better UI libs. In svelte it sucks as well... They are using horrible builder pattern but hey it's headless so it must be cool. It's another pattern that needs to die.
The excessive hoodie doesn't quite suit you.

Isn't shadcn backed by Vercel? So, they don't really need to make money. However TailwindCSS are not backed by a company. Soz it's not like shadcn people are good and stuff but TailwindCSS people bad!
Yes and no. For more advanced UI, Shadcn isn''t very good. Also - in NextJS14 - there are many, many problems with Shadcn.
