Nice find. I did the same fix on a tender. Used modern white foam. Works great. Have not had a problem. Have fun!

I think the MPC era trains are underappreciated. I have a set of the very first Baby Madison cars that came out in the Milwaukee Road paint scheme. I bought them new in the early seventies. Thanks for sharing.

I remember that set at Fred's hobby shop when I was in Jr high school, it was new in box, 100 bucks circa 1975.
