Arroios Station
The Arroios station, located at Praça do Chile, was inaugurated in 1972, as part of the second phase of expansion of the Lisbon Metro. This station has always been part of the Green Line and was closed between 2017 and 2021 for expansion, modernization and accessibility works. In this station, we can appreciate art works by Maria Keil, although a tile panel by Nikias Skapinakis has also been installed.
// Accessibility
The Arroios station is accessible by lift. Access to trains is via removable ramps placed by the station staff, and you must request this service when you arrive at the station. The station has audible and visual warnings. There is tactile paving and tactile indications in the lifts and access control gates.
ML 90
This series of 56 carriages was manufactured between 1993 and 1996 and was distinguished, at the time, by its large windows.
ML 95
This series of 114 carriages was manufactured between 1997 and 1999 and was distinguished, at the time, by the single glass on the front of the cabin.
ML 97
This series of 54 carriages was manufactured in 1999 and was distinguished at the time for being the first metro trains with open gangways in Portugal, allowing passengers to freely move throughout the train.
ML 98
This series of 114 carriages was manufactured between 2000 and 2002 and is the latest generation.
// Accessibility
The Lisbon Metro trains do not have places for people in wheelchairs, access being made with portable ramps placed by the station staff. However, there are priority places for the elderly, pregnant women, and people with reduced mobility. All trains have audible and visual warnings.
