Today we're taking out the new Polygon Bikes Siskiu T8 for it's maiden voyage. I've never been more impressed with an all new bike that I have this one. It tractors up climbs, and is a very comfortable bike to push hard headed downhill. Here are my initial thoughts on this new purple trail eater!

I’ve got a 2021 Polygon Siskiu D7, and the reactions you had was exactly how I reacted to mine. The D7, for people who don’t know, is the bike below the T7. I originally thought the Shimano mt200 brakes weren’t gonna be enough, that the geometry was gonna be a little off, since it’s kind of a long bike, and that the tires weren’t gonna be enough, since they’re 2.25s, but turns out I was completely wrong. The brakes beaded in extremely fast, the tires were super grippy, almost throwing me off the bike in corners, and the geometry felt amazing, for me being 5’7. It felt like a rocketship in corners and felt super fast and responsive on straights and technical stuff. I’m very pleased, and for the bike being $1800, nothing competes with it. It is by far a gem, for how amazing of a bike it is, and at its price point.

The only reason I hesitate to buy this is I have read a few complaints from some owners of this Polygon Siskiu T8 that their parts came as generic brand rather than the high end one such as cheap tires and a generic brand drivetrain but not the Shimano SLX as advertised.

I had such a bad experience with tektro brakes. They were so soft just when I got my bike and when I tried to bleed them I realised that they were filled all the way to the top (so there was nothing to bleed) after that they were even softer and I had an awful time those two times when I went to the bikepark cause there was literally no breaking power... and to top it all off, when I opened that „bleeding screw“ for the very first time the o-ring ripped apart , and it was so small I didn’t have a spare one. So -just for one ride- i sealed it with Teflon tape, which worked surprisingly good -quick lifehack there ;) But after that I immediately purchased shimano xt’s. And I am so happy with that desicion .

Love my 2021 T8. Put 2 spacers in it, if I was doing jumps it can take 6. I'm going to get a 50mm stem as I'm the top end of the medium range at 5'9". Swapped saddles and grips. Love the bike it climbs so so well. It really trucks over everything with the 29 tires I have tubeless. Super plush for rocks and roots if that's the setup you want. Brakes are great, slx is awesome. Yeah it's a tad heavy but it doesn't feel that way on the trail.

Have the T7, but swapped the fork for a used Fox 34 Rhythm... Its basically a T7.5 now. My thoughts: The fox34 can definitely use a few tokens to get dialed on anything but really light riders. I have a less favorable opinion of the Tektro Brakes. I find that while they have enough total grab, they require a LOT of of effort at the lever to sustain it, which is nice modulation on fast/flow, but becomes tiresome on long/steep descents. Minor quibble: Polygon uses a Shimano "Resin Pad only" rotor on these, but the Tektro Orions come with metallic pads. AFAIK this will only make the rotors wear prematurely, but won't cause performance issues.

I think I'm having a bit of an issue with the dropper on this bike. If you press the lever it doesn't go down immediately, it kinda requires an initial push to start traveling down. Basically I can press the lever and still be sitting on the saddle without going down. Also noticed when pushing straight down with the hand it is the same, very hard at the beginning of the stroke, but it slides down much smoother if you press diagonally (parallel to the seat tube). The seat clamp isn't overtightened, the cable is okay - no sticking. Does anyone have the same kind of problems?

29er. Size medium you have the choice of either, kind of wish I had the choice of a 27.5, would have been super fun!

Depends completely on the style of riding you do. N9 can handle a lot more abuse like at the bike park, and the T8 climbs better and is more playful for trail riding 👍

Torn between the T8 and the N9. If you could only have one all around bike, which if the two would you go for and why?

It depends on the style of riding you're looking to do. Bike park and bigger features: N9. Trails and fun times: T8 might be more fun.

I tend to find a lot of things people have issues with (like the 34 flexing) you have to take with a grain of salt. I really didn't find the 34 all that bad. If you're jumping at all, buy a couple $3 spacers and then have fun on it! Its a perfectly capable fork, its just more a mid range tier component.
