This Thicc UL Crankbait Catches Chunky River Perch!
Ойын-сауық
This session i headed to the clear water river / creek in search of some aggressive redfin perch. I decided to wade the river as this gave me better access to the snaggy areas where the predators like to hide. It was a busy session with plenty of fish caught. Not only did i catch a load of perch i also managed a few jack pike and chub too!

Always surprised at how many decent fish you catch from a river that's so shallow and clear. Made me completely rethink about locations where I would and wouldn't fish.

It's not common in France to find decent perchs as well, particularly in clear waters of streams for instance. We have XXL chubs where the river is not deep. Nice perchs are hidden in deep waters between the rocks and dead trees underwater. It would be a pleasure to fish in your beloved country with marvelous landscapes. Kindly yours, les pêcheurs du nord de la France 😀

I've just aquired a very similar little crank bait, but a couple of those swims and runs are defo worth going over with trout in mind and i've almost forgotten what its like to give them the once over. going to do one before the end of the season!!
Thumbs Up on the videos , you really changed my perspective on freshwater lure fishing in the UK , thought it was mainly course fishing, now I have no excuses to try micro lure fishing more often from sunny and dangerous South Africa!!
Great video. Been ul crankbait fishing for the past couple of months. Great fun. Mainly using rapala ul crank and sg goby crank. Lots of chub, perch and Trout.
You are the best ! Every single evening i have a look at your vids !!!! Keep up the good work. Don t stop
No better notification on a boring day than a new ginger fisherman video
Another great session In this shallow River Chris. More to come I hope.
The fish are looking very healthy, amazing how nice that stream is looking. I sure miss the New England back woods for fishing.
Another quality video from my favourite fisherman 👍 always incredible content
You do not realise how fortunate you are to have such amazing clear waters! I can catch the odd perch…. Followed by a Tesco trolley 😂

From experience you could try and use a larger twitchbait that doesnt dive that deep, like a gunki gamera slim 90sp or something, with some heavy rattles.
Very relaxing session with plenty of fish. The river looked tranquil
My favourite lure ,had loads of perch chub, trout and Jack's out of the maun, meden trent and your little river.Fantastic tiny lure
Nice mix.... interesting the way those perch are in such shallow exposed habitat....
I’m originally from Manchester but I have lived in Ontario, Canada for the last 34 years. A lot of people here eat Perch and they are very good eating. You might want to try a couple. Perch rarely get over a pound here, as we have so many predatory fish that eat Perch; Muskes, Pike, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, Catfish and more. Keep up the good work. I enjoy watching all your videos.
I caught my first fish on my crank bait at the weekend. Perch. 😊
Love your video’s all the best and tight line’s pal from Ireland 🇮🇪
What a gorgeous stream! Nice fish too
The man, the myth, the legend
Nice bit of fishing there pal 👍 river looks well nice and clean. No weed wish these up north east was like them
Fantastic vid , great little river
Nice ultra light fishing video Chris!
Привет. Был впечатлён! Река мелкая, а столько рыбы. Да и природа шикарная! Катушку надо смазать))))
I like the fact you are mainly used lures rather than stinky baits and boilies. Lures seem to be a forgotten bait in the UK but they work great!
Great videos love from Michigan USA those giant chubbs would make great pike bait for your next video🇺🇸🇺🇸😊😊😊
Intro - glad you gave the exposition you were in the river.. I hate to be guessing stuff.... :-)
that is one of the most beautiful locations if only we had rivers like that in Hackney id be a made man lol cracking video
No one could be unhappy catching perch, they're such beautiful fish that can be caught in so many different ways.

Can you do a video on your tackle and lure choices for depths and specimens etc?
Felicidades, buen video con los señuelos micro crankbait, fue una pesca multiespecies, se ve que la pasaste bien, saludos.
You can't beat the sound of line being stripped from an open spool.
Beeston canal in Nottingham has loads of pike and perch and I mean loads! I've had pike to 17,2lb and perch to 3.7lb
Great video as always , at the start of it are you in the park ?
Best fisher man 😎
Only just found your you tube page! It's brilliant and I love it! Are you a northerner?
It can be quite suppressing what is in a small stream, just because you can’t see them doesn’t mean it’s empty, I’ve caught good fish from streams and backwaters that looked void of fish
You are a amazing fisherman me and my gf watch your videos every night... she a carp girl where as I like natural fishing ha just bought a hto hooligan rod and a okuma jaw reel I really want to catch a 3lb perch and i know a weirpool in Peterborough that will deffo hold them plus alot of perch chub and zander ... can't wait for spring ha
Voy a sacar de mi estuche los mini crankbait, y los voy a poner en acción la próxima vez que vaya a pescar, después de ver tu video me he renovado para utilizarlos, se que me van a funcionar. Saludos.
I love perch, aggressive little fish
8:50 That pike is so cute haha
So I mainly fish for carp but the other week I tried a dropshot in a little river and it was absolutely brilliant now I want to get a set up for myself 😂😂

Use the salmo hornet 3.5 crank bait
what breaking strain or Diameter fluro do you use for the trace,I'm always concerns of being bitten off by pike hence I always use a wire trace
I just bought One of those like 30 Min ago perfect timed
lol mate, where about in England do you live? Incredible, fishing in my manor, hard work, less skilful.
Anyone see the fish at 12 seconds on the left
Nice video 😀😀🎣
Is it better to do this in the winter or summer
Crankbait ? the damn thing is a plug !

Is that rod a fast action? If so, you are a master of hooks
Was getting worried when the 5th day no video landed was gonna contact the authorities n1 matey lucky sod 👍
Could you do an episode fishing the river with micro spinners?
Any fluro in there? I fish ultra light braid but always took up some fluro, the braids so thin I often wonder why I bother
Where's the video about about where you got both pairs of thermal wellies from mate please
Sometimes I find unhooking Pearch a pain as they take it straight down.
Hi Chris. I'm writing from the States, where a 13 ft spinning rod for stream fishing is all but unheard of. Why such a long rod?
@moose2k22

Doyouever go to a really light rod, like 1 - 5g?
You should do a control test in one video on if a trace effects your catch rate 👌be good to find out
@The_ginger_fisherman
2 жыл бұрын
I'll have to give it a go. In my experience a wire trace definitely affects your catch rate when using soft plastics with perch but with hard baits i don't think they'd mind about a 10lb trace.
Hello, the distance on the vid is bit deceiving, how far are you casting on average?
Massive ginger beard! "Men Only" beard fertilizer?
Lovely specimen perch in your rivers. Was it the same 20 /30 years ago? Irish perch seem to be getting bigger every year, but I remember 20 years back it was rare to see one over 2 pound.

Could it be that the so called anglers that went around culling the pike have had such a positive effect on perch numbers as they are now have less competition?

Ye that makes perfect sense as I only realised that they take years to reach specimen size and they outlive all other species. Just shows the importance of catch and release.

Nice vids bro. But your videos are very short. Make it please longer. And the underwater hunts are your best clips. Thx
how do some rivers you fish ony have trout and others have perch and pike? maybe this river starts from a lake? could that be the reason? Could you tell the name of this river or do you keep it a secret? im not even from UK, i would just like to see it on a map
Couple of questions, what braid do you use and what breaking strain? Do you use a fluoro leader. And do these micro crank baits work in canals? Great vid by the way.

From my little experience, 6lb braid with a 4lb fluro leader would be absolutely fine to hunt your specimen Perch, you could of course just fish it straight through! Save your money and just get out there and enjoy your fishing. Just one last thing make sure you practice your knots!! Learn the Palomar knot it’s probably one of the strongest and most reliable knots for just about anything to do with freshwater fishing. Regards from deepest Dorset

I think the best perch catcher on this planet is the Salmo Hornet 4 and smaller.
To protect our rivers you can get a licence to trap signal cray fish. If yiu kill them crush them all up remove the eggs binn the eggs then take the crushed up crayfish to your local rivers then feed the wild stocks if yiu keep this up then the fish get the taste for signal crayfish and they hunt them down. This river your fishing is clean. Good to see what proper land and river management can do...

Are you going green and getting hold of cane rods wooden baits and metal reels.. Mitchell 300 400 and cap reels are great. I'm going carbon and getting rid of all the carbon plastic and going green.. A bargain shop in Horsham Road Guilford great cane rods. Yiu can get new tips made for a 100 and they work a treat. And with best fishing in the rain when the water is high or colord the fish run into new water no lighting can get yiu with. A cane rod.. Cane rods are the future and now the prices are starting to rise go out and get as many as you can they have doubled in price in two years. Every year they are getting more expensive. Tight lines..
reel's a lil squeaky lol
Just picked up this lure in a sale. Not had time to use it yet as its just arrived but im slightly disappointed that this lure doesnt contain any ball bearings that rattle inside like some of the cheap ebay alternatives that i have bought do. The only rattle the fish will hear is if the hooks knock against the body as it swims, either wise it looks to be an absolutely solid lure. I will be interested in testing out how this one fairs compared to the ebay specials.
