I've never seen a girl so strong as her. She lost her whole family in front of her eyes jut she's still going on, she is not only a fighter she's a real soldier.

This poor girl watched her whole family die, yet she still spoke at the memorial and kept her head up high. What that man did is sick and he deserves the punishment he gets.

Well deserved. I have/had an adopted-brother who never took his medication, and every other night there were fights between him and our parents-who were only trying to keep us safe; which often resulted in him pulling a hatchet out on them often. One night he tried to kill us once and for all, but panicked when he realized he was failing. After sirens sounded in the distance, he had the audacity to get up and jump off the back porch, running into the woods. a week later we got a gun in the mail. He went to court a few times, but was never arrested. For all the damage he’s caused us, imagine how much for that poor girl. I’m relieved her uncle is undergoing that; he didn’t even seem to feel bad! TL;DR: psycho brother made me change the topic

Pretty sure it was his wife’s family and not his brother’s. The killer’s last name is “Haskell” and the victims’ is “Stay”. He was estranged from his wife, not divorced, so he was still related to her family. Also, if it was his brother’s family, then why would the news reporter refer to it as his sister in law’s house instead of his brother’s house? Pretty sure what happened is that his wife left him, and he was high on some mob boss fantasy and decided to kill her family.

she'll probably be in shock for a long time. kids especially tend to repress these things as long as possible in order to cope with their daily lives and move forward in their development as best they can. i worry about the day it all hits her and hope she'll have a strong support system when the time comes.

@zyda I think the only relevance is that she had to play dead while her siblings were shot and so therefore avoid reacting. In all likelihood, though, she was so utterly traumatized and probably froze anyways so there wasn’t much need to successfully act dead.

That’s just unimaginable to even stay standing days after witnessing your whole immediate family being killed. I don’t think I’d be able to string a sentence together for a long time. I really hope she got and is still getting support.

She had to hear the shots, and most likely hear them scream. That is something so surreal, and I couldn’t even fathom how hard it was for her to not scream or cry. The world is such a scary place.

actually an insanity defence means the defendant has to plead not guilty. You cannot legally plead insanity without pleading not guilty

@@HockeyFan430 I meant more of he will get a harsher sentence, not necessarily a longer one. If his location has the death penalty he will probably receive it for pleading not guilty. If it doesn't, he will probably just get life in prison.

No, this family was his wife's family. He killed her sister, her sister's husband, their children. And the police caught him, while he was on his way to her parent's house! (bc the little girl called the police so fast) He wanted to kill his wife's entire family, as revenge! (so that she could feel what it's like to lose everything, probably)
