Hello Mr.Kilmer I need some help. Im looking to buy a used truck the one I found is a 1992 FORD F-150 FLARESIDE 4WD with a 147k miles on it. The 5,0 engine and 5 speed manual. The dealer said they have no dont a mechanical inspection. They want $11950 Should I pass? It lived in Idaho for most of its life. The frame has been coated and appears to not be falling apart.I really need some help on this. I dont know anyone else to ask. Thank you Sir for your time if you read this and even if you dont. God bless. I have pictures as well.

Hi Scotty, been watching your vids for awhile now. On Labor Day while driving outside of Orlando on i 4, in 70+ MPH crazy traffic, the Toe Arm on my 2015 Cadillac SRX BROKE. I lost all control of the rear end of the car. My Son and I are very lucky as there are some who have been killed due to the Toe Arm issue. In your experience, have you had many customers with a Toe Arm issue? There is a RECALL on the SRX Models I was not aware of until it was too late. The Cadillac Dealership is asking me to stop in there next week as I did have the car repaired in Orlando as we had to get back on the Highway the next day in order to return home. Any advice is appreciated. Thank You...All the Best to You and Yours.

I've noticed that since the 2000's at least, GM has also developed some sort of.....obsession with putting the ECU in the engine bay. I've never understood why, like you said, you'd want to expose a delicate electronic device to the elements, heat, water, fluids from potential leaks, etc. Luckily four of my cars (a 1990 Holden Calais, 2001 Holden Berlina, and two 90's Mazdas) have the ECU and most of the rest of the electronics in the cabin where they belong.

I think they do things that reduce the lifespan on purpose, aslongas it get the thing past the warantee it then becomes more profit when things go wrong. I used to fix televisions and they would put low temperature capacitors very close to power transistors that get get hot, they would go wrong a month or 2 put of warantee and the result of the capacitor drying out would destroy the power transistor, an easy enough fix but only if you know to replace the capacitor before replacing the transistor ..

Hey Scotty! I have a Volvo V70 (2006) with ECM 135F, ECM 134F and turbo control (All that seems to be connected to the MAP sensor) and ECM 2830 with the lambda probe saying that it is too low fuel... Have tried to change out the MAF sensor, and will try to change the TMAP sensor today. The car lose power, is slow up hill, have black smoke and sometimes it can feel like a kangaroo jumping, then after that no power at all until ignition is turned off, and the car is started again. Have to say that after we changed the MAF the car got better overall, but still have issues related to the car either getting to lean or too rich, and the other troubles that follow with that. If this doesn't work do you have any idea where to go next?

Hey Scotty! Love your videos. I drive a 2003 Ford F250 FX4 super duty. The truck has 322, 000 km on it. I just replaced the rotors, brake pads, parking brake pads and shoe actuator and dust shields. Cost me $1600 canadian and did the work in my driveway with my husbands help. What is your opinion on Ford's 5.4L Triton V8 engines?

The spark plugs were the issue with Triton engines. They must be taken out periodically and lubricant the threads otherwise the spark plugs are nearly impossible to remove.

That MAF sensor placement was designed to fail. That's what happens when car engineers design cars with computerized parts. Computer designers know that computerized parts don't belong near high heat and water. Just like BMW should know that plastic parts shouldn't be placed near their twin turbocharged engines, but in early models, they did it anyway. Oh well, live and learn and let the buyer pay down the road is a good motto for a lot of manufacturers these days. Happy motoring folks.

Thank you Scotty for such indeepth information. Would you recommend replacing the MAF sensor after 168K VS Cleaning it? My 007 Lexus IS350 still has the original MAF. With winter fast approaching; I'd rather do all repairs and replacements during the summer 🤣😂! Not that NC gets cold like New England 😂🤣.
