When I was 6 and doing something with scissors my hand moved on it's own and tried to cut the index finger of my other hand. This happened so quickly that I might owe my index finger's continued service to safety scissors.

I have alien hand syndrome, sometimes it's just simple things like throwing a pencil, and sometimes it's choking or slapping myself, which is a little bit chaotic lol. The most I know about how I got it is a combination of neurodivergent disorders and head trauma. Been banned from cooking and metal works class in school because of it, which kinda sucks. This video helped me understand it better though, so thank you for that :D

I always find myself moving my hand the way my other is moving when I’m digging into my pockets or something like that. Honestly thought I was just losing touch with reality but this was a smile to my day. Thank you for the video.

Alien hand syndrome is theoretically caused by split-brain where your two hemispheres are remotely active by themselves, meaning they can act alone indepently from the other. It is commonly apparent to split-brain patients or people who have undergone brain surgery or traumatic brain injury. YOU are the left hemisphere-the rational, logical you has alienated itself from the foreign right hemisphere, the abstract, emotional you. Left hemishpere is the first to develop during prenatal stages, right hemispheres develops later and joins with the left. If the corpus collossum is severed or injured, split-brain symptoms often appear and in such cases, this alien hand syndrome. That is your right hemisphere moving your body independtly because that's your other half, literally. That's YOU. Half of you. And while youre reading this, your left hemisphere is mindblown while your right is probably plotting to kill you because the left now knows the two of them are separate. Just kidding. Take care of them both, theyre both YOU.

This sounds exactly like the video CGP Grey did a while back, ‘You are Two.’ I did a report on split-brain studies a couple of years ago and the video came out while I was researching. It was kind of creepy. This is a nice summary. I’d recommend ‘Right Brain vs Left Brain,’ a great video where Alan Alda interviews Michael Gazzaniga, the lead researcher on this condition, and some of his case studies.

Once I sneezed and I was trying to look down so I don't spit everywhere but right when I sneezed and looked down I literally banged my head so hard on my leg my lips started bleeding and I didn't even force my head to do that. Man, that pain was awful...

I have this condition but mine began a few hours after I tried a thing called 'Automatic writing' with my hand crawling up my body to try to hurt my face and eyes.

I mean thats quite epic, imagine your hand helping you out with a game and they are much better than you are

I think something like alien hand syndrome happened to my whole body once. In elemantry I started having these body twitchings that started small but grew *very* strong, I tried to tell others about it but they never believed me.
