“This Story DISGUSTS Me” | Police Officer Sacked For Lying About Military Credentials

A top police officer has been sacked for gross misconduct after lying about his naval rank, length of service, and achievements in his application to become chief constable.
Nick Adderley, the now-dismissed chief constable of Northamptonshire Police, "built a military naval legend that wasn’t true," a misconduct hearing was told. He even implied he had served in the Falklands War, despite being only 15 when the conflict occurred in 1982.
The panel, chaired by Callum Cowx - a former member of the Royal Navy, the Army, and the police - found all allegations against Adderley proven. They described his behavior as "staggeringly audacious" and said he had lied for years with "arrogant temerity."
During the hearing in Northampton, it was revealed that Adderley wore a South Atlantic Medal, awarded for service in the Falklands conflict, which was found to be "110 per cent" fake by a Ministry of Defence medal expert.
Ian Collins speaks to political commentator Robert Taylor.

It is almost impossible to remove the pension of a sacked cop, regardless of the reason. The Police Union is one of the few that still has real teeth and don't forget his Employment Contract is from when he first joined. His final salary has been quoted as £176k and he has put in the years to retire on 2/3 so he will have a comfortable retirement.

This is the same chief constable who during the covid lockdowns wanted his officers to be able to search shoppers' bag and trollies to make sure that only 'essential' items were being purchased. He also wanted his officers to be able to set up road blocks around Northamptonshire to check that motorists were our for 'essential' reasons only as well. I joined a county force after serving in the RAF and the Army. I was required to present documentation detailing my military career, and I am sure that checks were made. No doubt my previous life experience affected my application to join, but there was no pecuniary advantage. I started as - and finished as! - a constable. What should be considered here is whether this unfortunate officer's lies made a difference. Was he a good cop or a bad one? Look at Met Commissioner Rowley, and others like him, bringing their forces into disrepute every day, and not being brought to book for their failures. Yet…

So disappointed in the way policing has gone down the plughole. Is it not time to bring back Police training centres rather than training in house which happens everywhere except the Met and PSNI. Police recruitment and selection should go back in house and not rest with Capita and other rigged money making enterprises. No integrity, no professionalism.

I used to run a small team collecting for the RBL every November. We had a chap in a wheelchair turn up to help, the next year he turned up with blazer and regimental tie but the following year he was in No.1 dress uniform of the SAS with major's badges of rank and a row of medals. This blew me away so I checked but they had never heard of him. I took him aside and challenged him, he said he used a fake name to protect his family! seemed a funny reason given he was wearing SAS uniform in public! I told him if I saw him again in uniform he would be reported to the police, the Northamptonshire Constabulary! In contrast I let a single house in the NE and despite 17yrs Army service up to the rank of Captain I had to have a DBS check to rent out my own property, you would think they would have done basic checks for that job?

When wearing medals he wore the South Atlantic Medal before the General Service Medal 1962. When wearing ribbons only he wore the GSM before the SAM. How come nobody noticed that? His next two medals are the Golden Jubilee 2002 and the Diamond Jubilee 2012. He would have been given - not earned - these because the only criterion is five years in uniform: worthless, because a medal given to everyone is worthless! Oddly enough, he’s not wearing the Platinum Jubilee 2022 or the Coronation Medal 2023, also worthless for the same reason. The only real medal he is wearing is the Police Long Service and Good Conduct medal, which is forfeit now that he has been dishonourably discharged. It is an offence to wear medals to which one is not entitled, and I hope he will be charged with unlawfully wearing the two campaign medals. And as he was pushed before he could jump, he should also lose his police pension.

We have a certain son in law ( Jonny ) who is a lowly police officer. He claims he was in the royal corps of engineers. He is as thick as they come and as no qualifications or degrees. He even wrote on his police cv he had been in the royal corps of engineers. One day he will go the same way as this con man hopefully

So why in his position the security, qualifications and any military careers back checks are not fully completed…..so it’s really the police HR and hiring teams not carrying out the candidates CV checks properly 😮

If you live in terraced houses you can never guarantee to get your car in front of the house. Living in apartments would be difficult/impossible for charging in many cases. Insurance is very expensive. Depreciation is wicked.

Vanity is such a big thing in the UK, and that is what this is all about in this foolish man. But we have such enormous vanity which is encouraged, medals, titles, honours, the parasitic house of ignoble lords is typical. An unelected body that poses as an upper house in a so called democracy? An old peoples home for politicians to bleed the taxpayer till they die, and even have subsidised retaurants to help eke out their well overpaid allowances, and also the second biggest upper house in the world too!

I don’t understand how they didn’t run a VoS[ validation of Service] on him, especially has he was going up the career ladder. Defies believe! How nobody thought he would be too young to of served in the Falklands is beyond me. Every time I upgrade my phone contract they give me a credit check regardless of me being with the same supplier for over 12 years! It’s the old boy network, he’s one of the boys we don’t need to run checks on him! Famous last words, eh? Shame on him, shame! shame! shame!

Allo. I am happy for dismissed this poor man. The question is:when send CV, who is in charge for security and purpose search or proof? Is simple or difficulty question? Internet is best ever best source of information. How many pc officer, veteran, bla bla bla. . Show medal and award fake? So, why dont search in internet about fake medal, award, date years graduation country for services...?? Now, refund 50% wage and benefit?
