This Stage 3 Audi S3 is an AMAZING DIY RS3 - One Take

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In stock form, Audi S3 is a nice daily driver. It has a good chassis, almost 300HP, and a bit of extra sporting character. It shares enough DNA with the RS3 to make your commute interesting. Quick but not fast. This S3 is different. It has a bigger turbo and just about every suspension and chassis modification you can think of (without touching mag ride). And as you'll see, the result is quite lively.

Thanks guys! My F80 M3 is currently stock, but the only reason i sold my Audi was because i missed a manual transmission. Yes it's harder to drive in LA traffic, but once the road clears, its glorious. Plus my S3 went to a good friend, so i know she's in good hands.

Reason it wasnt downshifting in auto is because you didnt put it into "Sport" which activates when you pull back on the gearstick when its in drive. Also, you need to put it in "Sport" before slotting it across into manual mode as this puts your idle above 1000rpm and gets the box ready for launches etc. Another thing is, if you put the traction control into sport, your shifts will become far far more aggressive as well. - 8V S3 owner.

I just bought a 2017 Audi S3. Mine has most the options, sport seats, and the complete digital gauge cluster. It also came with a lot of aftermarket APR bolts-ons. Love the magna-ride as I daily drive my car as well as track day it from time to time. It has been awesome in every way. I love the feel of it in the corners on the road and the track. The thing I would say is on the track it understeers a lot and it's annoying. I didn't get one with the good stereo and I wish I would have. I couldn't care less that the seat is manually adjusted, once I set it I never really need to adjust it. That's a small deal for me. The light steering is not a big deal unless I'm on the track, then I'd much rather be driving the M235i or M240i.

I'm not blown away by the performance of this turbo/tune. Several other Stage3(+) kits out there that perform WAY better up top! My Golf R (S3 cousin) is stock, and already pulls hard between 2000 and 5500 RPM, even at altitude, but the stock tune leaves enough room to run the turbo harder at altitude to keep boost higher. A bigger turbo with a proper tune slides that rev range up, and I don't see that here, or the tune didn't leave much room to keep absolute boost higher when the air is thinner. Hopefully whomever bought this car will sort that out.

I picked up a used 15' S3 for cheap, and have done similar mods (pretty much the whole 034 chassis/suspension catalog) - good value even after all the mods... Only gripes are Unitronic didn't deliver the "left foot braking" they advertised, and that it still understeers & won't rotate well even with 255 tires (more alignment work to do looks like). Sure wish I could have gotten this in a Manual (I like the Golf, but prefer sedans)

I just bought a demo car S3 to replace my DD... 2018 for 40k and came across this. I would never consider modding my S3, I'd just get an RS3. If you're going to blow the Audi warranty, it should be worth it IMO. Audi's aren't cheap to fix or maintain. RS3's are into the 9's with light mods which is great - but even a bigger turbo, downpipe, and tune are expensive compared to modding a Camaro, Corvette or Mustang. Problems are definitely easier and cheaper to address.

nah, dump $10k into an s3 and you'll have a car that is just as fast and fun as a used rs3. And still all the while saving $15k to $20k on the buyout cost. There is also very little noticeable difference in the looks. But this is what smart people do.

I've got literally 50% of the cost of an RS3 with basically the same performance. RS3 just isn't that great a value. I was going to get one with euro delivery, but they took forever to come in so I got a used S3 and modded more or less like this one. I'd have been pissed to get an RS3 and find out it still understeers a lot.

"Every bushing and connector" Sounds exactly like my car (02 Subaru Legacy S401 STI). Whiteline suspension bushings all round - rear diff mounts are also Whiteline. Engine, transmission and subframe mounts are Hardrace. Steering racks mounts are Nolathane, as I've found them to allow less play compared to the Whiteline ones. Engine and transmission is completely stock, apart from an Exedy Heavy Duty organic material clutch.

I feel like you would save money at this point simply going with the RS3, better resale value too. Throw a cheap stage 1 tune in there also and be running 450 hp in the 5cyl

Rs3 much more expensive than getting an S3 and doing fbo and tune. I got my S3 for $21,000, so even if I went FBO, tune and so on, it probably wouldn't be more than an extra $5000 to $7000. That's still only $28000 at the most versus an Rs3 at over $54k. But if you feel the Rs3 is worth paying another $30k+ just for the 5cyl and sound, and u can afford it, then by all means, go for it.

Bro what? Used Rs3’s are at least 20k more than this . Get an A3, throw 4k worth of mods at it, and you’re probably beating stage 1 RS3’s.

The S3 is clearly one level below the RS3, and has "only" a 4 cylinder engine.... "Hierachy"..., ever heard about that? The 5 cylinder legend of an engine in the RS3 has so much soul in it, it is already very hot with "only" 400 PS. The next generation RS3 will certainly getting "hotter". That's how it goes...
