    " who knows where they are now... since we are only "seeing" the light now." - the velocities (relative to Earth) of many of the stars are being measured. So one can use straightforward dynamics to plot their courses. The amount of time over which we can calculate their orbits is limited by the precision of the data (and our computational capabilities.) Don't know about this one, but a typical documentary series has episodes just shy of an hour, or if they're done in conjunction with an American TV channel/producer, 45 mins + a 10-15 minute "how it's made" section following it. The fuel is only for getting it out into space, it's not meant to come back. Once in space, if calculations are made correctly, it will be in orbit and not required fuel to "move".

  • @beta_cygni1950

    @beta_cygni1950

    2 жыл бұрын

    Contrary to the info in this thread that claims that Gaia "doesn't have/need fuel", it DOES. The ESA has said that it can extend its fuel reserves until about 2023. When that happens, the satellite's mission will be over. Gala is not in earth orbit. Its is parked at the L2 lagrange site (1 million miles away, 4x the earth-moon distance). This is only a semi-stable point, and any craft that is parked there needs periodic burns to maintain position. In addition, it needs fuel to correctly orient itself towards intended targets.

May Jesus Bless you, trust Him, give your life - and He will take care of it :pray Convert yourself and believe in the Gospel - Romans 10 8-10 But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,”[a](A) that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: 9 If you declare(B) with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,”(C) and believe(D) in your heart that God raised him from the dead,(E) you will be saved.(F) 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.♡;*
