Thanks for doing the collab my friend! I truely enjoyed it! I was thinking that the barber was real and the walker was fake because of the magnetism but wow the result is really quite amazing! thanks again Speg and i’ll be honest I had no idea what the harp coin and the london token were but I thought they were cool 😂🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🐉

I brought home some train tokens home from South America that look just like that London token. The groves interacted with the coin slot when you inserted your fee.

The 1962 coin is an Ireland half crown inscription is "leath choróin" (Half crown) although they were typically referred to as a "two and six" (2 shillings 6 pence) which was an 8th of a pound, or 30 pence. A pound at the time was 240 pence Which explains why Britain and Ireland went to decimalized coinage after about 1,000 years of so. The other "coin" is a grooved automatic token. These acted more like a key, the distance, number, and depth of the grooves would allow the machine to operate or a door to open

I have a few silver-dollar coins from the late 1800's & early 1900's, which I took to a local coin dealer and he said they were fake because they were sticking to a magnet. After seeing your video, maybe all along they are real. What are your thoughts on this?

@11:52, the "horse coin" is an Irish half-crown, which was made obsolete by decimalisation (in both the UK and Ireland) on 15/2/71. The "harp/ bow" is an Irish harp, the same one that Guiness uses in their marketing. :) A half crown coin is 1/8th of a (in this case, Irish) pound, and that one you have is actually marked as two shillings and sixpence on the coin, which _is_ half a crown, so a crown is five shillings and a pound is 4 crowns. Therefore a pre-decimalization British or Irish pound was 20 shilliings and because a shilling was 12 pence, a pre-decimalization Irish or British pound was comprised of 240 pence. ..... There's more if you're interested. :)

@@Spegtacular There is probably enough history to write a book, but I will try to summarize predecimal British currency, _i.e._ before it was converted into 100 pennies to the pound that Americans would recognize, and is used by most countries today, dividing their currnecy into 100ths. So prior to 15 Feb 1971, 1 pound = 4 crowns = 20 shillings = 240 pennies, but the penny was divided into 4 farthings, so the pound was divisible into 960 parts. Although there were many coin denominations, the system was mostly reduced to pounds, shillings, amd pennies, abbreviated to £sd (or Lsd). By around 1960 the farthing was worth so little it was withdrawn, but there were 1, 2 and 3 penny ("threpenny bit") coins right up to decimalization. The threpenny bit is really cool - a 12 sided coin made from yellow-ish brass. Further back in time there had also been fractions of the farthing, all the way down to 1/4 and 1/6 of a farthing, or 1/16 and 1/24 of a penny, so the pound had been divisble into as many as 5,760 parts! All fractional farthings had been withdrawn by 1868. Then there was the guinea, that was 21 shillings, which led to weirdness like the "quarter guinea" which was a crown (or five shillings) and threpence!. but that was only issued in the 18th century. There have been numerous other weird factions of a pound issued, such as one third of a pound, which equates to 6 shillings and 8 pennies, but if you want to dig deeper into that world you should check the wikipedia page on pre-decimal British coinage. The current/ decimal "half pound", which is known as "50 pence", in the predecimal era was occupied by a paper 10 shilling note. There were several pre-decimal coins that survived decimalization - same physical coins used, but with an actual value that differed from what it said on the coin - e.g. "a shilling" was worth 5 (decimal) pennies (new decimal coins had "new pence" in the design for a number of years) even though historically a shilling was 12 (old) pennies. So one florin/ two shillings became 10p , one shilling became 5p , sixpence became 2½p ….. Yes there was a 2½p coin until 1980! But there were no decimal 2½p coins minted, only the old sixpences were used. Everything smaller was withdrawn, including the 3 (old) penny coin as well as the old penny, ha'penny and the fathing, which had already gone by around 1960. The replacements (smallest coins, not exact value equivalents) were 1 pence, 2 pence, and also the ½ pence, which was withdrawn in 1984 . The 10 shilling note was replaced with a 50p coin, and the crown was eventually "replaced" with a 20p coin in 1982 (I am not sure why they didn't go with a qaurter, like the US.) There was no direct replacement for the crown, but commorative crowns continued to be issued long after decimalization . :)

I really liked how you explained your findings. I’m new to this whole silver world lol. Any advice or videos to watch on how to buy, where to buy, range of acceptable pricing? I’ve gone on many sites and if silver is say 22.00/oz why is it 30-80$ to buy the coin? I really want to learn but nobody I know does this. Again any help to steer in me in the right direction; so I too can learn, is greatly appreciated. Thanks Jenn
