Finally had all the parts together to do this to my 2021, this video and another (because I have the DRL type turn signals) were instrumental in the install. Really made the process simple and yes they should have come this way!

Great video! Planning to install these in my 2019 Ascent as it didn't come with them. Safety is the top priority as you mentioned as your reasons in installing them. Thanks for this video, helps out a lot!

itmacguy07 you have to use a tiny flat head screwdriver to push the side pin down and then you can pull the wire out

Nope

I don't know what all the piece parts cost you; but you can buy entire replacement after market form and fit OEM mirror assy with heated mirror and turn signal pre-wired on the net for about $80 per side. Then it's plug 'n play replacement at about 15 minutes per side.

I have a base model '16 WRX. I'm confused; if I buy a wiring harness for the turn signals, are there already existing connections to splice the wiring harness into? On a base model? Thank u

Kradle it should already have the connectors. I think it’s the same platform as the forester and all the wrx of the current gen.

I have been trying to look for an FRS LED side mirror install. I currently have stock but do you think that the instructions and wiring are similar? Once Subaru/scion/tomato share similar car parts?

If I got STi mirrors with the turn signal LEDs, would I need the wiring harness? Or would it be plug n play? Considering the wiring harness by Subispeed literally plugs into the turn signal LEDs and the black and red wire go into the slots of the white plug on the mirror end?

djemzine I think it would just be plugging into the factory plug. I might be wrong. Try installing it and see if you need the wire harness

With adding turn signals to the mirrors of a ‘21 wrx, can I just buy the indicator lights, wiring harnesses, and mirror cap covers? Or just buy the entire mirror with lights as a whole replacement? Which direction would you recommend???

Depends. If you can find the entire mirror for less than the whole kit, then buy that since that will also save you time. The whole conversion is pretty simple, all the wiring is pretty much there.

Man, seem like your light pointed backwards, it should be bright the hold trim.

@SimplyMod85 when you added the wires from the turn signal to the factory plug. Will this work on any vehicle that did not come with turn signals in the side view mirrors. Or is this just a subaru thing.

Hi-is there a reason why the other half of the mirror blinker does not illuminate or is it for something else? This has been driving me nuts as if there’s a bulb out or something, but maybe that’s not the case

That's just how the OEM side mirror signals are (single LED + diffuser). Aftermarket uses full LED across the entire thing.

Looks like the mirror caps came pre-painted from the factory. Did you buy these through the dealer?

The WRX limited does come with integrated mirror turn signal, you have to pay more money for that option.

But crosstrek premiums (and possibly base too) come with mirror signals...why does a car (base/premium wrx) not come with them standard but costs $3k+ more than said crosstrek? It makes zero sense. I believe (2019+) base STi don't have mirror signals either...why Subaru, why?

The limited does have them, they made a safety feature a money exclusive option only on the limited and maybe premium models

So basically if you take the mirror out to the car when putting the wires into the connector you can see which wire goes where? Assuming they go where the other one is on the opposite part of the connector? Making them connect to each other?

yeah, there's only 2 wires that needs to be added to the plug, red and black, with the red wire goes to the top slot like in the video and black on the bottom slot. I think it would be much cheaper and easier if you can get the entire STI mirror as suppose to what I did. They shold just plug and play.

@@SimplyMod85 Just looked into buying the STI mirrors but only could find a pair that werent the right color then would still have to buy the color matched caps. The set was 505$ before shipping so might still be the best route with the kit from subi speed or going thru the dealership. Great video btw!

@@SimplyMod85 , I've checked, there come 9 cords, but only 5 go to a mirror. I think 4 remaining lays are: 2 for a turn light indicator + 2 for fold actuator wires.

yeah why the fk they couldnt put this on the regular WRX.
