Finally, I got the disc out of the box and on to the table saw. Let start by saying it does everything that Mike says it will do. I started with end sanding a couple of raised panel doors and it work perfect . I don't have a sled for my table saw so I set the fence up and went slowly. The ends are now perfectly smooth so smooth you almost can't see the mill work where the style and rail come together. A caution for all potential users. I would suggest you have a blank throat plate that you can customize for use with this disc. It is rather thick too thick obviously for my zero clearance plate, too thick for a standard plate and a dado plate's slot is not long enough. Luckily I had a blank throat plate. It did take some playing around with multiple blades and even a dado set to get the slot just right. All-in-all great addition to my shop.

Mike - You are, dare I say, brilliant! I have been using this now for about 9 months. It is one of my most favorite things in the shop. I hate sanding edges. I used to sand by hand (no belt sander) to keep as flat as possible, time consuming and never flat. One or two passes with the disc and I'm done. Now I have beautifully flat, crisp edges. Rock on!!!

Just found this and it sounds like a great new use for the table saw. It looks like it could also be used for traditional disc sanding work, but would be easier if one side were flat instead of tapered. People with big shops/budgets may buy a second small table saw just for this similar to having a small secondary band saw for dedicated small blades.

It worked very well but as I recall I quit using it because I hated changing saw blades.

That is part of my reasoning for the 2 degrees. That particular disc was what I recommended for a while. I just ordered a new disc, "Gee Nate what happened to the one you have been using?" asked no one, "Its not a Farrington disc" I never replied. If you have never used this technic you are missing out on a great way to handle edges, Extremely fast, whenever Mike started putting out videos and showed the usefulness of the Mighty disc, I immediately ordered one, A couple years and a few thousand feet of wood later Zakk (my son) and I find ourselves holding hands and singing kumbaya ,because our lives are that much better, So I ordered a new one because its the least I could do to support Mike, the boardroom and all those little apprentices.

Excellent presentation. I wish I discovered this technique sooner...it would have saved me time on a box project. Just today, I finished. I'm sure you understand the difficulty cutting perfect joints in hardwood (maple, walnut, oak) using a table saw - it's excruciating. Even after tuning my saw and using sleds, I could never get it exactly right; and, this whole notion of using a sanding disk the way you've illustrated - hey - it's new to me . . . and I own one (cough Craftsman sanding disk cough cough), I never knew it could be used like that! uhg. Just the same, thank you for the presentation. Looks like an awesome product you've created. :-)

@@ShopTherapy623 I'm currently doing a batch of items that takes right at 30 minutes to sand the pieces for each unit. I figure this disc will cut that down to 5 minutes. So saving 50 minutes per hour seems pretty cool to me. On the low end, at $30/hour shop charge, that's 6 hours of "not" sanding to pay for the disc. That would be 12 units in my case. I planned on cranking out 32 of these a week, and the sanding is definitely the bottleneck. 32 units are estimated at 44 hours. With the time savings this disc could save, those same 32 units will take an estimated 36 hours. I could make another 6-8 units per week which translates into $400-500 extra profit per week. So to sum up: 1. I can save about 2 hours per day by using this disc to sand. 2. I can pay for this disc after saving 6 hours of sanding which is only 3 days. 3. I can make up to an additional 8 units per week which will translate into up to $500 in profit per week. The first week there would actually only be a $350 profit. But subsequential weeks would be $500. 4. And you're supporting a small business instead of a name brand.
