    Okay, that little thing is heckin cool! Eagerly awaiting a followup video about how it does unattended for long periods of time. I've only got about 2/3rds of an acre, but it's very lumpy, some steep grades, a drainage ditch I struggle to keep clear, and a soft property line with one of my neighbors.

    There auto remote control probably grand but no matter what that thing rolling around I want to be around watching it. Strip out all the automatic crap, its more potential danger then worth, bring the price down a lot, and more importantly give it a remote control I can use. This makes it very tempting.

    You want something like the Mowrator. The cost isn't much less but RC mowers tend to use real mower blades so it cuts significantly faster as they're typically built on full size mowers.

    We’d like to do an open source (or source available mower for our hill. Like you said, strip the fancy features (which are nice) and build a rugged track-based brush hog for hills and other hard to reach areas. We will learn a lot with this and will test it to its limits.

    For the power station 25.2V, 7amps. For the RTK 12V, 2A. This setup would probably be overkill if you’re only powering the robot. It’s also not very efficient converting from DC to AC back to DC like I’m doing. So you could probably get away with something more simple than this.

    @@driftfox it has been amazing!! Every now and then it will get caught up on something, so it’s not perfect, but it usually does a great job. They also sent me a new one that I’ve been testing (the Yuka) and it has done great as well. It’s meant for more flat lawns and the Luba is better for rougher terrain.

    Technically, the mower is also DC, so you could run from the battery right to the mower and save on efficiency losses. But no one really wants to get that technical.

  • @DannerCronise

    @DannerCronise

    2 ай бұрын

    True. I didn’t feel like cutting into the brand new cable just yet haha. It’s a pretty strange connector I haven’t seen before, so I’d probably try to order a new one for that project. We also have a small fuse box for our solar system specifically for those kinds of DC applications. Right now, this is barely using any of the battery capacity since we don’t have anything else hooked up so I’m not too worried about being lazy with it. The lowest I’ve seen the batteries get is about 75% and that’s even on cloudy days/night. It’s a little over 5000Wh so I should be able to recharge it ~20 times on full battery (which it usually stays capped at on a sunny day)

  • @StapleCactus

    @@DannerCronise Yeah, most of the efficiency problems only become an issue when you're using a lot of power. With a 5Kwh system, trying to save 30 watts is barely worth the inconvenience. It's cool to know you have a DC panel for future use.

    We are trying to take very selective opportunities and turn them into quality information. We are taking a small fraction of the many offers we get every week. We also plan to build a remote operated (perhaps not automated) track based brush hog for our steep hills. So far the Luba is doing well.

    @@MrZZeroG Just so you know where I’m coming from. We, the viewer, can spot your ‘infomercials’, compared to your regular content, in an instant. I’m here to watch the conversation of a big box store shed into a tiny house, not infomercials for loosely related products you’ve been given. In my view, the quality of your content has reduced since you started taking on the ‘commercial opportunities’. I’m on the verge of unsubscribing, as I suspect other, silent, longtime viewers are. Great channels like ‘Project Farm’ never compromise their quality by accepting ’free stuff’ and have a huge following for it. Just a thought.

  • @MrZZeroG

    @MrZZeroG

    2 ай бұрын

    Big fan of project farm, but we aren’t a review channel. If it were only about infomercials then we could have 3-4 products a week. It’s not our intent on ever moving to that, but we will definitely want to feature tech that can be used in homestead and other applications. I don’t have any problem with channels that do reviews or even exclusively reviews and watch those content too. We have turned down products when they wanted to review our videos first or in any way seem to want to steer things. Thanks for sticking with us and airing your concerns. We like that you comment (good and bad) and just know we are doing our best to stay transparent and don’t want to be bought. Danner had the choice of going straight into an engineer job and he’s making a go at this. I’m proud of what he’s done so far and want to see him succeed. He’s worked hard to earn income on this and it’s not easy. There are plenty of channels that are backed by wealth outside of their KZread income - this one isn’t one of them.
