All data scientists I met have also a master degree and I think it’s very difficult to get a job in a good company without that, unless you want to build your own product

It’s historically been masters degree holders but the percentage of data scientist being self taught/bootcamp grads is growing. All you really need are the skills and a portfolio to land a solid job.

Step 1: Learn programming language Python or R AND SQL Step 2: understand numpy pandas matplotlib Step 3: CRY 🥲 learn maths (Statistics linear algebra and calculus) Step 4: Machine Learning Step 5: Gets hands on A.I. Step 6: Read research papers and new articles on hypothesis Congratulations you made it 🤠😊❤️

I start learn math from arithmetic because i wasn't able to sum up 2 fraction. With courses now i'm Jump from integral calculus, differential, gradient vectors and every kind of Matrix/vectors calculation and the most importante thing Is that i found math very funny now, because i apply It in a field that i really love,Data Science.

Trust me, you don’t need math to go into ML. Even neural network roles. The only math you need is applied statistics (imputation, etc) and a bit of linear algebra doesn’t hurt (just the fundamentals though, dot product, matrices, tensors etc.) You only need serious math skills if you plan to work on the underlying algorithms of libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc. The only way to learn in this field is by working with real world, messy data. Writing SQL queries to load data, preprocess and clean it using Python (NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn, etc), feature engineer, build a model or ensemble (XGBoost, neural network libraries, scikit-learn) and finally deploying the model to production. That is the machine learning pipeline. There is more to this like data pipelines, etc that you will learn on your journey. Good luck.

All that, and companies still expect you to have 4-5 years of analytics, data engineering work experience, and a masters or PhD. Despite all this, their interview process is terribly complex and they themselves have no clue what a Data Scientist can do for their company. It was good during the hype, but now everyone is getting screwed over
