The same way they get songs a writer writes, they got this one from Taylor. Kesha is one of the biggest ones that write a lot of songs for other people, and also Meghan Trainor was a professional song writer for many years in the industry before she decided to start singing them herself

The song was already finished and all done by TAYLOR, people don't understand that, rihanna was just an author but not a songwriter or anything, calvin just produced the song, something Taylor swift could have done too and TOO EASY. Hopefully by 1989 we will have THIS IS WHAT YOU CAME FOR (TAYLOR VERSION).

Y’all also need to remember that Rihanna’s vocals are processed, chopped and pitch corrected in the final version. The vocals in Taylor’s demo are completely raw.

Rihanna slayed this song, but Taylor is a genius songwriter for this and many other songs.

Listen...I LOVE Rihanna. Like that woman is one of my all time top idols in the industry. But I cannot express how much I want to hear Taylor's Version of this song.

Taylor's version is a DEMO. It wasn't fully arranged while Rihanna's version is. And if Taylor's final version had gone out first you'd probably be praising her version more.

If it Taylor’s was fully produced, I still don’t think it’d be as good as Rihanna’s. Rihannas voice is sweeter and more flavorful than Taylor’s, and Rihanna’s can hit high notes better than Taylor. That’s why Taylor had voice cracks in her demo. Her demo was still good tho

​@@cookiecookielookies the lyrics seemed like her style in Rep era. plus although taylor uses unconventional words nowadays, she uses easier vocabulary early in her career and rely on pop culture / literature references and figures of speech like metaphors and idioms to give a deeper meaning.

@@cookiecookielookies the only way I can explain it is it’s like when you see someone you know very well walking towards you from a long distance away. You can’t exactly make them out from their appearance, but you can tell it’s them from the way they walk. Her style of songwriting is very distinctive to anyone who knows it well. How she uses analogies to paint a picture, the way she lays out the progression with storytelling in her lyrics, and it’s always got a very mystical and elegant flair to it as well, often very poetic in how she strings words and phrases together.

Now I know why Taylor is making her own music by herself

I love Rihanna’s voice so much, but it would be cool to hear Taylor’s entire demo! Her voice fits well with it also!

You can’t give him credit for that. He didn’t let her sing it even if she wanted to, because it was clear she did since she even did a demo for it. Even if he said that Taylor wrote the song (even if literally days before TIWYCF came out he said he would never collaborate with Taylor even if they already had), he still called her a snake in 2017. Pretty cool of him? Definitely not.

Taylor wrote the lyrics and melody. It’s her song yet Calvin got co-writing credits. The producers who do that want the residuals from that only the songwriter gets. Producers usually only get paid a fee.

I think that was a perfect decision! I liked Taylor's version of you-ou-ou more than Rihanna's but I think Rihanna's voice fit better for the other parts.

Rihanna’s tone sounds so much better on the song that was a good choice

No one can say anything about Taylor’s version of this song as we haven’t heard it. What we heard just then sounded distorted to prevent copyright or somet as he can’t play the song due to legal actions. If we actually heard the song some of you would probs say Taylor’s version is better.
