I’m not embarrassed to say I was giddy. I thought I might as well try my 5-wood. Irons same thing. I hit my nine iron 145 yards; that never happened before. A proverbial hug and hand shake sir 🙏🤜🤛⛳️

    Merry Christmas Tom! I hope you and your family had a good one! I must admit I’ve been a fan for the past year, ever since I started playing. But, I’ve been holding out on your advice. Weight forward? Sure. Hands in? Okay. No flipping through the impact zone? No way! As a former tennis/table tennis/pickleball player, all my control is in the hands! And switching to a body release in golf essentially meant giving up control! And for the last year I’ve been fighting the body release. A few days ago, after a year of okay golf, I rewatched a video of yours and it finally clicked. Right arm tucked in, quite hands, swing shoulders through the ball. I tried it on the range, crispy straight balls! Compression like I’ve never felt. Even worked with chipping, which I used to feel only in my hands. Took it to the course and shot a PR of 89 with awful putting! I’m gunna join the online school in the new year, can’t wait to be shooting in the 70s soon! Thanks for all your free advice! Best of luck in the new year!

    I'm glad you enjoyed the lesson, Phil, and I hope it performs well when you put it into practice!! Unfortunately, such sorcery from this dark underworld of golf instruction rarely finds its way to the mainstream because if too many folks found out about it the mainstream would then be rendered irrelevant....... 😎 Consider that despite all the advances in equipment, technology, golf course grooming, etc. the average golfer still struggles to break 100. Epic failures within the realm of “conventional” instruction, perhaps??? So many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings - such as taking the club straight back, turning the shoulders level while independently lifting the arms, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, firing the hips, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of inconsistency and chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well). I’m doing my best here to clear these up one by one and put an end to this madness…. Thanks for your message!! By the way, you may be interested to know that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built. If you'd really like to get on the fast track towards properly learning this swing system in a comprehensive, sequential platform, please consider my online school. It will make for a far more efficient, superior, and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through these channel videos that jump around randomly from topic to topic. The school is where you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish, along with diagnostic and corrective tools for resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues, and much more. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many seasoned, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. Hi Tom, I’m a big fan of your method and love the simplicity of it. I have been hitting the ball well but still suffer with a few pull shots and feel like I’m trying to overpower the shot when I do. I am trying to turn the shoulders through but must be moving my upper body forward too much. Is there a swing thought I could use to help with this ? I was thinking maybe left shoulder back in downswing while trying to stay more centred.

  • @SagutoGolf

    @SagutoGolf

    3 күн бұрын

    I'm glad to know that my instruction content and teaching style are resonating with you, Tony! It's important to know why the ball is behaving a particular way in order to reverse engineer the cause. The ball is simply responding to the flight plan assigned to it by the clubface at impact. Clubface relative to target line is the primary influencer of the ball's starting line and face relative to path determines direction and degree of curvature. So in the case of a pull, the face is closed to the target line at impact. There are various possible causes for this, including the face being too shut at address, a grip that is too strong, a ball position that is too far forward, a downswing path that is approaching the ball from the outside, flipping/rolling the hands through the zone and more. By the way, always begin with the setup - in this case the first three possibilities - prior to diving into a swing intervention. For example, a golfer may have previously deployed a closed clubface at address and/or a strong grip to compensate for a slice due to a steep downswing path. If the path has been corrected, then that same grip can certainly result in pulled shots. And while there are certainly videos on my channel that address these various issues, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Tom

    Thanks - I'm glad you enjoyed it! I have not yet previewed the tool you referenced, although I don't doubt its effectiveness based on your description. There are two things at play here: 1) Discovering and dialing in our ideal swing tempo, and 2) Feeling that transition - or the change in direction - so we don't rush our downswing from the top and thereby lose our sequencing (a very common affliction within the amateur golfing realm). Our perfect tempo/rhythm - which is unique to each of us individually - thereby enables us to gather and unload the various components in proper order for seemingly effortless, powerful ball striking bliss. I appreciate the information! Tom

    I have all 3 lag shot clubs. I also switched to the jumbo XXL grips. Doesn't it screw you up going back and forth between the skinny grips and your jumbo? I may put the matching grips on my lag shot clubs. Or I can wrap them with a roll of vet wrap to make them fat. I did this with a new driver that I needed to get the best loft setting figured out before the new grip was put on and aligned.

  • @SagutoGolf

    @SagutoGolf

    7 ай бұрын

    Actually, Eric, since PXG doesn't carry the Jumbo's in-house, when I switched to their new GEN6's earlier this year I went with their largest available grip, which is a midsize. Having said that, when I was swinging the Jumbo's I personally didn't have an issue going back and forth between the LagShot and my clubs. If you are thinking about regripping your LagShots, I'd recommend contacting their Customer Support just to make sure you won't have any issues in that regard. Or else just wrap them as you suggested. Tom

That aside, while this system affords you some leeway, in general once my students and members show some level of proficiency with the swing I suggest that they migrate to a ball position that is in the middle of the stance for short irons, two balls inside the lead heel for middle irons, and creeping more forward for the longer clubs - the farthest forward being even with the inside of the lead heel for the driver (with the stance width increasing as we move from shorter to longer clubs). That will set them up for our stock push-draw ball flight. From there they can make incremental tweaks to see how different positions affect impact quality and shot shape. While there are videos on my channel that touch upon this topic, a better option for you would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many seasoned, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Tom

    There are various appropriate feels that I teach in this regard, and yours is certainly a valid one as long as that lead arm remains straight. In fact, I do my best to convey multiple feels or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. However, no matter the variety of suggested feels/thoughts offered for a particular element of the swing, they are all directed at getting different golfers to achieve the desired positions, motions, and ball striking results. For example, the sequential lessons and drills of my online school provide the guidelines and set the boundaries, while allowing ample leeway for each individual golfer to infuse and exercise their own uniqueness. And no, Im not some 30 handicap weekend guy. Former PGA professional, but swing got so bad, I quit playing for 10 years. 🤔 Not sure what to do about it.

    I do understand as I've been there myself, and I'm sorry for your frustration. This swing system is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology, and it is modeled on empirical observations of the game's most prolific ball strikers. As such it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everyone in between, inclusive of the best players in the world. Watch any Tour event on TV and you'll see a significant number of players executing these motions, a fact corroborated by just how many of them have a very centered swing with the lead knee flexing and the trail leg straightening during the backswing, their lead arms on or very close to their tilted shoulder planes, and their hands deep behind their trail shoulder at the top. Have you looked into my online school? It is designed to get golfers on the fast track towards properly learning this system in a comprehensive, sequential platform. It will make for a far more efficient, superior, and enjoyable learning process rather than us playing a guessing game as to the cause of your woes or your haphazardly trying to piece things together through these channel videos that jump around randomly from topic to topic. The school is where you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish, along with diagnostic and corrective tools for resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues, and much more. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many seasoned, low-handicap, competitive players - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. And if you'd like to first "dip a toe in the water" prior to diving into the school, then here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ That is where you can learn some key aspects of the swing system I teach in a more structured manner. @@SagutoGolf Tom, thanks for our prompt reply. I’m recovering from two strokes that have screwed up my balance. A prior player, I’m now having to cope with loosing balance post contact with the ball when I look up to track the ball. Actually, my balance is tenuous even during the backswing & downswing, so your approach of a locked in, non-moving, posted on the forward leg stance, along with arm position, helps me greatly. Needless to say, this requires retraining my muscles, but even at 78 years of age I know that the effort to do so will be rewarded.

    Not at all, Rod. Just a different way of explaining/demonstrating the same thing.
