This Restoration went wrong...
Ойын-сауық
I’m restoring an old German Junghans wristwatch. The watch is from around 1970. It is equipped with a Junghans movement calibre 620.02.
The watch suffers multiple damages. It is heavily used. The dial is in a very poor condition. During the cleaning process of the dial I made a mistake and removed old clear-coat around the printing "Junghans"... Not every restoration can be perfect! Mistakes happen.
Hope you enjoy the video 😊

first time i have noticed any watch maker keeping relevant parts together such as the balance complete with the screws and the pallet fork, and the keyless works together, i'm learning so much just watching your videos, thank you

When i saw you unwinding the mainspring....i only have experience with recoil starters on chainsaws and outboard motors and they are a pain to rewind. Total respect to your capacity to do the same with something the width of a human hair!

@SkyBlue-le7cd Not at all. Which watch you wanted to know? This Junghans for example I bought it by a friend of my. He is watch dealer.
Watch looks great😊 Always install cannon pinion before minute wheel to avoid damaging teeth. Great job!

Lovely video and very nice restauration. I do wonder what happened with the dial. It could be helpful for others to tell so we learn from each other. Thanks for the beautifully edited video!

Glad you enjoyed it. I rubbed the area by mistake. If you clean a dial use rolling motion! Never rubbing. Thank you for watching ☺️

Interesting movement and different ! It’s a nice restoration, and if you compare to the beginning, the movement is clean and shining✨ ! It’s bad to see the condition of the dial, but at the final result it’s look good ! Thanks for sharing this interesting restoration ! Best regard from Canada ! 🙂

Nice to see an old watch brought back to life. Is it unusual to have a watch that has no gasket for some sort of water resistance?

Why are most parts of the movement brass? Cheap? Easy to work? Doesn’t rust?

People don't care about watches and never bring to maintenance. The gaskets became old and the damage is mostly caused by water over years. The result is watches like this particular one. Thank you so much for watching. Have a great day
