Solid review as always, bummer the timing system wasn't cooperating. I agree the truck body looks good. But that price point seems high for a 2wd drag platform, the TRX4 Defender is listed for, four cents more on Amazon when I wrote this. Speed costs money, but I don't know its two speed transmission four wheel drive with remote diff locks money.

Diggin the content man. Keep it up!

Lots to like about this truck, some great features and that body is killer! 😎 And, no, you can't build this for $500, no matter what people say (you can't even buy the new diff!) BUT Losi and AE can sell you their RTRs for $100-$150 less! 😲

And in the case of the Losi, for $100 less you end up with a body that's every bit as good if not better and a better more stable package IMO...that even has working lights out of the box. LOL I can't speak about the DR10 as I don't have any experience with that package.

Might just put these wheels tires and wheelie bar on my bandit lol

And now it's $299, much more appropriate for a 2wd Slash.

I built 2 Slash based cars in the past year, they both cost me way more, obviously I could have done it way cheaper, but the ultimate goal is to race, not break, and win. Would definitely like to compare performance!

And now it finally has a less absurd price of $400. I feel bad for the ones who decided $500 was acceptable when it clearly wasn't.

With traxxas, the extra x stands for extra...lights, that's extra, programmability, that's extra, enough speed to run with a Losi, that's extra..plus the huge 500.00 price tag . Extra extra extra. It's too bad because it's a beautiful truck.

I like the sticker windows there’s no point in having windows that get dusty every time you drive it. It’s an r/c. Let’s not treat it like something it isn’t :)

The price is nuts for a basic truck, you build better and faster for same or less, like atleast give the Maxx 4s system in it, but traxxas doesn’t care about customer complaints like other companies do, they will leave it and still rob people.

@@codenamethecleaner7519 The maxx 4s system wouldn't work. The VXL-4s isn't rated to run 2s. It can run 2s but it isn't designed for it. 2s is the only thing you're allowed to run in no prep races. They should've came out with a new 3s power system.

I would have to disagree with tracks it's not caring about people's complaints !! BECAUSE ..... I bought the Traxxas X MAXX back about 5 months ago in December and I only had it for a couple weeks, I only took it out about three times and the battery fell out and stopped working I called the Traxxas and they told me that I would have to mail them in the battery with the receipt that I bought it you know when I boarded with date because I believe the batteries have a year warranty and I told them you know I only took it out about three times and the battery fell out and stopped working I called the Traxxas and they told me that I would have to mail them in the battery with the receipt that I bought it you know when I boarded with date because I believe the batteries have a year warranty, and I said well that's going to take about two weeks by the time I finally get a battery back that's not really fair to me I just spent all this money and the guy just sent me brand new battery all I had to do was email my picture of the battery along with the receipt

Pretty good car especially for beginners but the only problem is the price. Itd be fair it was $350-400

Looks like it needs the slipper to give a little more for 3s to soften up the launch until it gets moving.

If you plan on racing that in the stock class, I’d be careful with those tires. Mine are already wore out and there are no OE replacements. That being said, big daddys are the closest in size I could find and they hook well

Glad I found this site.. so tired of the nonsense 'backward hatters' goofing off.. I hope there will be less classes and more cars in each class for drags.. 17 classes and 3 cars in each class really hurts off road racing.

I watched your Losi 22s and Drag Slash back to back, I your could only get one to get into racing which would you chose ?

Price is definitely up there but this is Traxxas and in the end you do get what you pay for at times.

It’s entry level till you put the speed gear and a 3 cell lipo battery in it, let’s just say you’ll need a lot of tire glue ones they expand the way they do

With the 3s did use the TSM at the end of video?

If you could only pick one would it be the Traxxas drag slash or the Losi 22S Drag Camero ? And why ? My opinion I would lean more toward the Drag Slash, wider slicks, trans brake. race tuned out of the box and optional speed pinion. Losi 22s didn't so much have much to offer other than a good looking car, so what's your take and it will be raced.

I’m seeing more and more RC drag racing which is awesome but I always wonder why people are not locking the rear diff. And I know these vehicles are based off of current buggy style chassis but has anyone tried installing a solid rear axle and not independent suspension.

People do lock the rear diff. Not everyone that buys this is going to race it so a locked diff wouldn't make any sense. You can't install a solid rear axle on this. You would have to remove the transmission and rig up some stupid motor mount.

many people do. Not one person in competition is "not" locking their diff. Most use JB weld to lock the diff.

@@bansheerider619 Absolutely NOT true! Plenty of people are running diff fluid in competition AND with a slipper! The runner up at King of the Streets, in Vegas, was running a mostly stock DR10 with 500k diff fluid.

@@Adee4750 spinning isn't winning. There's a test out now against the big 3. Losi couldn't go straight unless you feather the throttle a lot.

It's only riding on one wheel on a wheelie bar that's why it keeps going to the right one tire is gripping the other tire is slipping

Cool truck, but you will have a lot more fun building your own.

Traxxas needs to figure out just like axial. A 67 Chevy pickup has a small back window.

What does the I phone have to do with the DSR-1 system? It operates off of the program and bluetooth with the traxxas program.

The Traxxas program was designed off earlier iphone app programming and Traxxas stopped updating their app to work with it.

You can buy a dr10 for 299 and a castle sw4 with 3800kv to 7700kv motor selection for 149 and be 50 dollars under this in price and alot faster with way more tunability then this 2wd slash! U can take that extra 50 bucks and buy a c10 body done and done

A slash roller is $150, which is a new Bandit converted on a slash LCG chassis, plus add wheels, tires, servo, radio system, esc, motor, upgraded transmission, painted body, etc...It cost around $700. If another brand is cheaper thats fine but its not traxxas. Traxxas is always more expensive.

@@bansheerider619 well yesh they are and why buy a roller? Buy a complete bandit for 150. It has all the electronics its not vxl but u have the servo radio and receiver. Add a 40 dollar chassis. Wheels and tires 60 max then u can add a sw4 combo from castle 149 body is 50. The tranny u don't need. Buy a sealed diff from hot racing 40. U got a drag slash for under 500.

Hey! If your into 3s bashing and high speed driving the new Magnum 272 will be perfect for your standard slash vxl, it will be able to handle loads more power as well as draw away some heat from your motor since it uses an aluminum mounting plate. If you are only using 2s and not really bashing your car hard then the stock transmission will work!

Before you launch it get it straight . Then push down the back of the car it will go straight

Why can’t we just makes these full size and have fast electric cars with throw away replaceable body’s and interiors that wear out! You know the rest for ever and fix it if anything breaks or wears out! Their super simple just seams like we could!

This would of been much better as a roller.Nobody wants to run that old vxl esc and motor

A build kit would be cool. Who knows what the future holds.

Way too much money for what you get. I love traxxas but there's no way in hell I'd buy this at that price tag. That new transmission shouldn't bring up the price tag by $160. And before you say it, I know that it has a different chassis, body, and wheels, but none of those things should really bring up the price if you factor in the cost of the original slash parts.
