Not to mention that was obviously when Cole/the artist and manager weren't known yet so imagine all the work Cole got put on with AFTER that from word of mouth by the artist and their manager. I think Cole got by pretty well.

What an amazing humble dude cole is. Love him
As a piece of advice to kids getting into this scene rn this is a rare case and an example of why u need to invest your energy into meeting the right artists and people. My roommate and I have been doing music vids full time for two years now (plus two part time while we were in school) and most of the time artists and managers will try their hardest to lowball or pay just enough to stay on your good side, and in worst case scenarios, tell you you’re going to be cut in for this kind of money to try and get you to work for free. Be smart with who u collab with, don’t get your hopes up too much, and remember this sort of stuff doesn’t happen to everyone. I hope this doesn’t come off as cynical, but I think it’s good advice. Being a MV director is a lot like being an artist, some people have to grind for a long time in obscurity and some people blow up overnight. Good luck though and try to enjoy the process
